Birkin ownership is one of fashion's most elite clubs on account of its price (starting in the five figures) and its scarcity (bags are only accessible to longstanding clients). To put it in celebrity terms: Jennifer Lopez's extensive collection is an exception, not a rule. But a look-alike, so-called "Walmart Birkin" bag's overnight popularity has the internet debating what it means to buy an It-bag.

In December, Walmart listed a $78-dollar bag imitating the Birkin's top handles, lock detail, and square compartment. It didn't take long for shoppers to clock the resemblance to the real deal—and for some to declare buying one a chance to reassess the definition of luxury. Over the holidays, over one thousand TikTok videos of creators unboxing their Walmart Birkins have amassed millions of views. Satisfied shoppers said that their purchases telegraphed wealth on a tight budget. Some even bought more than one. Meanwhile, fashion historians and critics noted how the materials, production processes, and overall feel weren't similar to a real Birkin at all—and that buying a copy underscores the impact of the original.

Yet, for many shoppers, the debate is part of the fun. "The bags are super cute, and the fact that they are making people so mad is an added bonus," one user commented on a Walmart Birkin reveal with more than 24,000 likes.

All the back-and-forth, in part, emphasizes how great of an impact Hermès's tote had on the luxury market to begin with. The Birkin wasn't immediately a status item when it was released in 1984 on Jane Birkin's request for a stylish diaper bag. Over time, it steadily gained a cult following through scarcity marketing tactics (Birkins are produced by hand in extremely limited quantities), celebrity street style, and pointed references in pop culture. One early episode of Sex and the City has an entire plot revolving around Samantha's quest to get on the Birkin list, for example.

The Birkin bag has had many imitators over the years. Just take a walk down New York City's Canal St. or head to DH-Gate or Temu for proof. But few have been as readily available and blatantly similar as the "Wirkin," shoppable for less than $100 with instant shipping. This phenomenon has sparked online discussions about whether a copycat bag can match the appeal of the original, particularly given the strong demand for the Walmart version, which has reportedly sold out in several markets.

One thing's for sure: Unpacking the Walmart Birkin controversy isn't as simple as a "What's in My Bag" tour. But the following is a start.

What Is the Walmart Birkin?

Whether you're carrying one or not, the "Wirkin" isn't going to trick the trained eye. In no way affiliated with the original designer, the bag comes from four third-party sellers listed within Walmart's online store, including Judy, Kamugo, Bestspr, and Ymtq. The under-$100 top-handle style is sold in several colors and purports to be made from genuine leather. Some versions are matched with a coordinating scarf wrapped around the handle. Listing details for the bags don't reference Hermès directly, but the inspiration is evident in the shape, size, and lock clasp.

The Birkin isn't the only bag with a third-party dupe on the retailer. Imitation versions of the Kelly bag and Bottega Veneta woven bags are also available.

The Birkin, however, has gone viral because of shoppers who've purchased a Walmart Birkin and instructed other shoppers to join the trend. They have a few reasons for touting what fashion critics call a dupe. First, they say it's making luxury more accessible by translating an exclusive status symbol into a mass-produced accessory for a tiny percentage of the original cost. Second, they categorize the move as taking power back from big brands. In their eyes, the Wirkin is indistinguishable from the original—diluting the first bag's storied reputation and eye-watering prices. Third, a few purchasers have joked that the trend is a form of collector's item—their way of remembering 2025 culture decades from now.

Fashion critics, legal scholars, and general TikTok users have all debated these points at length. Wirkin shoppers have hit back that even criticizing the bag is a form of classism.

Why Is the Walmart Birkin Controversial?

The great Wirkin debate touches on several bigger questions plaguing the fashion industry right now. First, there is the distance between a brand's perceived power and the prices its products command. Second, and perhaps most tellingly, is the question of who can (and should) have access to luxury goods.

Let's start with prices. Wirkin supporters say their discount find undermines the sky-high prices of the original Birkin. Other fashion voices, like critic and stylist @jesicaelise, disagree. Hermès's products are what economists call Veblen goods: Items that experience an increase in demand as their prices rise. Shoppers are more willing to pursue them explicitly because they're exclusive.

For Hermès, what the bag stands for is as important as the bag itself: Birkin bags are handmade in France and created for a hyper-specific client living at the upper-upper echelons of Hollywood, business, and media. Each bag is crafted by artisans who spend several years in training; they're meant to be cherished. The Wirkin, meanwhile, is mass-produced and not necessarily from traceable materials; it's made for someone who wants to dip into the feeling of carrying a Birkin à la J.Lo without living the actual lifestyle. The Wirkin, in other words, is repackaging a fraction of what the Birkin actually offers—hence the extreme difference in cost. (Or, as one TikTok commenter wrote under an unboxing video: "We all broke but we still deserve to look cute too.")

Further, critics point out that a Wirkin is, actually, quite easy to ID. Shoppers might be telling on themselves for carrying a counterfeit based on the rest of their outfit's styling, the place they're carrying the bag, or how the bag holds up over time.

This point gestures at the bigger issue at play: the complex relationship between luxury and accessibility. Desire for a well-crafted, competent handbag isn't dependent on tax bracket. But the Hermès Birkin (and its sister bag, the Kelly) is purposefully exclusive. This rankles people who believe all fashion should be available to everyone; but luxury, as a business, requires a high barrier to entry. Part of the appeal is that not everyone has it.

As such, TikTok claims that the Wirkin will ultimately make the original bag "irrelevant" are overblown. There might be a run on the Walmart version because it's a conversational point now. Check back on the dupe in a few years: Will the materials last as well as a true leather Birkin, or age as gracefully? Probably not. But the original Birkin, like styles from Louis Vuitton and Chanel, has held its value for decades. Even if there's a dip in pop culture popularity, it's not completely going away—because it was leagues ahead of any knock-offs to begin with.

So far, Hermès hasn't acknowledged its superstore counterpart in any official capacity. If it does, it might be through its lawyers. WWD reports that there are substantive grounds for the luxury house to seek legal action against Walmart for infringing on its copyright. “To the extent Walmart is promoting the bag as the equivalent of, or an alternative to, the Birkin bag, it would be hard for them to deny that intentional copying,” fashion lawyer Douglas Hand told the outlet.

Purchasing a genuine, freshly-stitched Birkin bag is not so easy as logging on to a major retailer's website. Nor is it as simple as walking into an Hermès boutique: The bags aren't even displayed in the stores.

Instead, given that Birkin (and Kelly) bags are made in limited quantities, Hermès sales associates often invite long-time clients to purchase new bags. In many situations, clients do not pick the exact shade of leather or hardware finish; the brand offers it to them to purchase. Many lucky shoppers have documented the process on TikTok—a glimpse behind the luxury curtain that's come all the way back to the Walmart Birkin discourse.

Shopping for a gently used Birkin bag is a different story. Luxury consignors have benefitted from the lore around "beat-up Birkins"—that is, bags whose leather has developed a patina. Sites including eBay, Fashionphile, The RealReal, FWRD, and Vestiaire Collective have authenticators dedicated to sourcing authentic Birkin bags in need of a second home. These listings typically retain their value, selling for just as much as (if not more than) a fresh handbag.

There's another place to track down a previously loved Birkin bag if you're up for it: Walmart itself. The retailer has quietly listed pre-owned luxury items in a special section of its site, just a few clicks away from its controversial Wirkins.

<![CDATA[ 17 On-Sale Finds I'm Using to Build an Elevated Wardrobe in 2025 ]]> As cliché as it sounds, the New Year really is the perfect time to reflect on what's working in your life and what's not. With this in mind, I like to take a good hard look at my closet and weed out the pieces that aren't working—like the TikTok fashion trend that didn't stick and the old pieces that don't fit like they used to—before I decide on my personal style vibe for 2025. I want rich-looking outfits from head to toe this year, but I don't necessarily want to blow my year's fashion budget in one fell swoop. So, I tracked down 17 worth-it buys from the new-year sales across the web.

I've learned that you don't have to do a major overhaul to make a big difference in your wardrobe and that investing in higher-quality pieces does the trick. Think: soft cashmere sweaters, warm wool coats, and luxe black boots. Couple these items with a few trendier finds like leather gloves and a knitted cape, and you've got a winter capsule wardrobe that feels both elevated and fresh for the new year. What's better, I've discovered that all of these pieces can now be found on sale from brands like Reformation, Everlane, and more.

These finds will amp up my winter outfits with little effort. The best part is that they all ring in at $300 (or less!), with the majority coming in at under $200—what an amazing way to kick off the new year.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lawrence Anoints the First 2025 It Shoe: a $1,190 Boat Shoe by The Row ]]> Jennifer Lawrence only needed two days to crown 2025's It-shoe-in-waiting.

On Jan. 2, the footwear-trend whisperer went out for dinner at the West Hollywood restaurant Zinqué with a close group of friends. She strolled into the restaurant wearing a few of the off-duty essentials photographed throughout her second pregnancy style era: a white T-shirt, roomy black trousers, and a leather shoulder bag. She also added a baby pink jacket with vintage round buttons, plus Celine Triomphe sunglasses.

The real pièce de résistance arrived on her feet, a black leather boat-shoe-moccasin hybrid that nearly blended in with her pants. A quick search revealed it's The Row's Lucca style, retailing for $1,190.

Beneath Jennifer Lawrence's baby-pink jacket and wide-leg pants, you may have missed her It shoes: The Row's Lucca boat shoes. (Image credit: Backgrid)

These handcrafted Italian leather boat shoes have spent nearly a year in Lawrence's closet. She first wore them in Los Angeles last March, with a leather trench coat and a chic Old Hollywood scarf tied around her hair. Weeks later, she packed them for the East Coast with a cropped blazer and jeans—and aside from a brief cameo on a May walk through New York City, they haven't been seen since.

While the style isn't new, its reappearance in Jennifer Lawrence's wardrobe at the top of a new year should set off fashion people's internal It-shoe radars. A boat shoe trend is setting sail in Spring 2025, after early adopters like Miu Miu and Bally sent reimagined docksiders down their runways for 2024. By the following season, several more brands jumped on board the ship—including by way of Sperry collaborations. All those pairs are bound to arrive in stores over the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence is something of an It-shoe savant. She began wearing Alaïa's fishnet ballerinas and mesh flats while they were still a controversial shoe trend. When the jelly sandal trend revival became normalized, it was in large part thanks to Jennifer Lawrence wearing The Row's bright red Mara jellies first.

Trust that if she's choosing The Row's Lucca boat shoes for her very first appearance of 2025, she's going to wear them a lot more often. And so, apparently, are we.

<![CDATA[ Rihanna Elevates Her Down-to-Earth Reading Glasses With a Fur Coat and Bottega Bag ]]> I wouldn't usually categorize Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's couple style as "relatable." When they share, it's sharing Bottega Veneta boots. When they match, it's in limited-edition Puma sneakers. But when the duo brought their signature laid-back luxury to New York City's Alba Accanto cocktail bar on Jan. 2, Rihanna's half of the look came with an accessory I never expected to see her wear in public: her reading glasses.

Right alongside her Thursday date night fur coat (likely vintage), Bottega Veneta bag, Ugg slippers, and dark-wash baggy jeans, Rihanna also wore a thick-rimmed pair of square readers. It was a down-to-earth touch in an otherwise opulent outfit; a look that says she was reading Emily Henry's best books on her Kindle during the car ride to the bar. By her side, A$AP wore an equally cozy hoodie, bomber, knit cap, and jeans.

Rihanna's fur coat and limited-edition shoes aren't all that common. (If anything, the Fenty Beauty billionaire is known for her extensive statement fur coat and hat wardrobe.) Still, her combination of low-key eyewear and date night outfit that's both relatable and aspirational. I know I've been rushed out the door before I've gotten to a good stopping point in my latest book, pushing my reading glasses up into my hair or tucking them into the collar of my shirt. In one scenario, Ri could have done the same. Alternatively, she's painting a picture of the ideal winter evening for a bookworm: wrapping in a cozy coat, sipping on a Tequila Mockingbird, discussing her favorite new releases.

This is all conjecture, but here's a fact: her $5,900 Bottega Veneta bucket bag is perfectly proportioned for a small paperback book or an e-reader. And, it pairs just as easily with other looks she's worn around the city this holiday season, including with thigh-high boots and a bomber jacket on New Year's Eve.

After staring at her outfit's unexpected accessory, I have to know: What was Rihanna reading before she went out? The Empyrean series? A new Kristin Hannah tear-jerker? Whatever's on Rihanna's TBR, Kaia Gerber and Kendall Jenner should watch out—even without carrying a book, fashion has a new literary outfit icon.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lopez Strips Down to a Celebrity-Favorite Bikini Trend and $2,430 Fur Boots in Aspen ]]> Every winter, celebrities including Jennifer Lopez participate in a time-honored bikini trend that's beyond the realm of possibility for anyone else. No, they're not sunbathing in 14k gold or taking the loud luxury trend to the beach in a logo-printed swimsuit. They're purposefully wearing their swimsuits the last place one would expect to see a string bikini: in an Aspen snowdrift.

Jennifer Lopez shared a glimpse at her apres-ski bikini styling in a round-up of her Christmas trip to Aspen, Colorado, on Jan. 2. Her compilation video included a shot of the "Can't Get Enough" singer in nothing but a black string bikini, a black cowboy hat, and furry snow boots. Her hat was a custom creation from the Aspen hot-spot Kemo Sabe; her fox-fur boots came from Brunello Cucinelli.

J.Lo probably snapped her bikini pic en route to a jacuzzi overlooking Aspen valley. Still, styling a Cabo-appropriate bikini with heavy-duty snow boots and a Western hat is the sort of high-contrast moment only a celebrity in their snowy chateau tends to pull off. Hailey Bieber welcomed 2025 in nothing but a cheetah-print coat and bikini. A day later, Bella Hadid wished her followers a happy New Year in a stringy red bikini and cowgirl boots—while laying in a pile of snow. Rewind back to 2022, and you'll find Kendall Jenner doing the exact same thing: frolicking in the Aspen snowfall with only a black string bikini, sunglasses, and Miu Miu fur boots to keep her warm.

For the most part, celebs tend to limit glimpses at their vacation to their seasonally-inappropriate swimwear. Not J.Lo. She was photographed several times out and about in Aspen over the Christmas holiday, wearing everything from custom cowboy hats and Chanel earrings to the barrel leg jeans trend and oversize sunglasses. (Alas, she didn't appear to tote a winterized Birkin bag on her trip.)

Now that Jennifer Lopez's Aspen getaway has officially ended, she's probably packing up her bikini trends and fur boots with it. The 2025 Golden Globes are up next on Jan. 5. Since J.Lo is in the thick of promoting her awards-bait drama Unstoppable, she could stop by in the red-carpet equivalent of a swimsuit: Her beloved naked dress.

<![CDATA[ Bella Hadid Recreates Her Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Look on New Year's Day in a Red-Hot Bikini ]]> Hollywood has spoken: sparkles are out and bikinis are in.

While everyone else was dressed up in New Year's Eve shimmer, style stars across the nation were abiding by a different holiday dress code. To celebrate the beginning of 2025, celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid wore teeny-tiny bikinis instead of full-on 'fits.

Bieber eschewed tradition completely in a baby pink style topped with a cheetah print coat. Meanwhile, Hadid's swimwear selection paid tribute to a historic New Year's custom. While promoting her fragrance brand Ôrebella, the supermodel donned a string bikini with golden ring details at each hip.

Her two-piece came in a festive crimson red—the customary color of the Chinese New Year. The vivid hue symbolizes good fortune and prosperity and is believed to ward off of evil spirits.

In addition to its lucky associations, Hadid's NYE look was also reminiscent of another cultural moment—albeit, pop culture. Her lipstick red suit was immediately familiar to anyone who watched last year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The model returned to the infamous runway in October, wearing a lingerie set that looked incredibly similar.

It, too, featured a string-y bottom accented with yellow gold hoops and a cherry-colored bra to match. The similarities end there, however. On the runway, Hadid's look was styled dramatically with a feathered statement cape and beaded high heeled sandals. Meanwhile, on Jan. 1, she merchandised with Western-inspired accessories that felt authentically Bella (read: cowboy boots, mixed metal bracelets, and a silken scarf).

<![CDATA[ Hailey Bieber Was the Coolest Girl at the New Year's Eve Party in a Cheetah Print Coat, Bikini, and Moon Boots ]]> Hailey Bieber went low-key on Christmas, choosing a Scandi girl pajama set over a luxe evening gown. When New Year's Eve rolled around, however, mama came ready to party.

Her NYE celebrations were extravagant from beginning to end. There were top-shelf martinis and In-N-Out burgers covered in caviar. And, of course, Bieber's outfit was just as over-the-top. To ring in 2025, she eschewed the traditional holiday glimmer, choosing animal print over sequins. Even so, her outfit was a total show-stopper in more ways than one.

The model dressed scantily, wearing a $148 baby-pink bikini from fashion label With Jéan. It featured ruched, milkmaid-inspired detailing on the cups and a matching string bikini bottom. Going for luxury over flash, Bieber topped her swimwear with an expensive-looking fur coat covered in cheetah spots.

Bieber chose drama over the typical NYE uniform once again in the footwear department. She left her high heels at home, instead slipping on a pair of chunky Moon Boots (a current celebrity favorite) for the celebratory occasion. The $295 style boasted the brand's signature exaggerated shape, but with an Ugg-inspired suede outer.

Bieber was one of many stylish stars who chose to go sparkle-free on New Year's Eve. Rihanna, for example, wore only black leather—slouchy over-the-knee boots and a bomber jacket—for her Dec. 31 outing. Selena Gomez, meanwhile, went for a simple LBD (her signature move) and let her massive engagement ring act as her outfit's only glitz.

Though Bieber's look was certainly more audacious than an all-black 'fit, it was still notably different from the holiday norm—different in a really good way.

<![CDATA[ Rihanna Upgrades Her Favorite $5,900 Bottega Bag on New Year's Eve With a Bomber Jacket and Thigh-High Leather Boots ]]> If there's one person on earth who can roll up to a New Year's Eve party, totally sparkle-less, and still upstage everyone in the room, it's Robyn Rihanna Fenty. The beauty mogul rarely plays by fashion's rules, and evidently, that dressing ethos even applies to major holidays.

On Dec. 31, Rihanna was photographed outside an NYC bar celebrating the start of 2025 alongside her partner, A$AP Rocky. As stated, the woman was completely devoid of festive glitz, instead wearing an outfit comprised totally of noir leather.

As one of Hollywood's most exciting dressers, she, of course, still found ways to make the all-black look feel interesting—namely through exaggerated silhouettes and varying textures. Tapping into fashion's leather bomber jacket trend, she sported an oversized version in lieu of a traditional cocktail dress. Her footwear was likewise voluminous: a pair of slouchy $1,995 Amina Muaddi boots that hit mid-thigh.

Though she didn't abide by the rules and regulations of the day, Rihanna did stay true to the dressing standards that matter: her own. When it came time to choose accessories, she employed her favorite designer, toting Bottega Veneta's glossy Kalimero Mini Bucket Bag.

The $5,900 design is a new favorite of Rihanna's, with the star breaking it out multiple times in recent weeks. The Saturday before, for example, she used the same patent leather bucket bag to elevate a casual-cool 'fit, styling it with gray jeans and a matching hoodie.

<![CDATA[ Heaven Mayhem's Under-$100 Earrings Are Celebrities' Latest Jewelry Obsession ]]> The world of celebrity jewelry can sometimes feel like a million miles away. Style muses often hit the red carpet dripping in diamonds worth thousands of dollars or fresh-from-the-vault gemstones. But there are a few rare instances when an affordable jewelry brand catches the attention of Hollywood's elite, and becomes a bona fide It-girl brand as a result. Heaven Mayhem is one such example.

Since launching in 2022, Heaven Mayhem's pieces have exploded onto the street style and celebrity circuit. It's clear the brand's founder—model and content creator Pia Mance—is inspired by vintage hidden gems. Think of the '80s jewelry you'd find in an estate sale jewelry box but for the modern fashion girl, and you get Heaven Mayhem's signature aesthetic. There are bold button earrings the size of half-dollars, chunky corded pendant necklaces, and heirloom-quality watches. With a line-up as stacked as this brand's, it's no wonder why it's become a celebrity go-to in barely two years.

Heaven Mayhem is also an exception to the celebrity jewelry rule: It is truly affordable, with most pieces ringing in under $100. So to upgrade your 2025 jewelry collection in the spirit of Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, and more, scroll on for the best celebrity-approved earrings from Heaven Mayhem's lineup.

Hailey Bieber

If we had to name Heaven Mayhem’s most dedicated A-list fan, the title would go to Hailey Bieber. She has worn the brand’s statement earrings on several occasions, and it’s safe to say more than a few pairs take up room in her jewelry box. Bieber has worn both sizes of the Knot Earrings—some of the brand's most popular designs—on repeat, styling them up and down with a red mini dress and casual white T-shirt on separate occasions. Then to accessorize her lacy maternity jumpsuit look, the Rhode founder tried the Vase Earrings for a touch of texturized gold. She also wore the silver Bean Earrings while attending a Khy event in an edgy all-leather look back in 2023.

Bella Hadid

The latest star to get on the Heaven Mayhem bandwagon is none other than Bella Hadid. Just days ago, the Ôrebella founder matched her minimalist manicure with the Treasure Earrings, a chunky pearl and 18K-plated gold piece that could have been borrowed from Princess Diana’s jewelry collection. Hadid seemingly can’t get enough of the ‘80s-button look as she also wore the brand’s large Beverly Earrings with her cozy shearling coat in a recent TikTok video.

Emily Ratajkowski

When Emily Ratjkowski hit New York City in a head-to-toe ‘80s-inspired outfit, it only made sense for her to accessorize with a pair of Heaven Mayhem earrings. Back in December 2023, the model dazzled in a hot-pink catsuit and strong-shouldered black coat while shooting a Maybelline commercial, but the cherry on top of her striking look was her Plate Silver Earrings. The vintage-esque earrings feature an oversized square shape in silver plating, and while her exact pair is sold out, they also come in a mixed-metal option.

Model and Joja Activewear founder Jasmine Tookes proved that swimwear and jewelry do go together. In April 2024, Tookes posed in a bronze Monday Swimwear bikini plus Heaven Mayhem’s Wind Earrings in gold. Dare I say they were the perfect complement to the gold hardware in her bikini? Since then, her trusted pair of earrings has made multiple Instagram appearances, like during a 48-hour stint in Paris or while bundled up in her winter coat.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is frequently ahead of the curve when it comes to discovering new brands, so it should come as no surprise that Huntington-Whiteley wore Heaven Mayhem as early as June 2023. Along with a luxurious all-white outfit, she wore the gold Tabi Earrings, an engraved statement pair that won’t weigh your ears down.

Lori Harvey

Sure, gold hoop earrings are a timeless staple, but why not use more of a statement stud to complement your outfit, like Lori Harvey does? While attending a popup for her swimwear label, YEVRAH, she accessorized her floral Loewe dress with the Butter Earrings, a pointed oval enamel pair lined in gold. While Harvey opted for the cream pair, they also come in black and maroon—perfect for dressing up your winter office attire.

<![CDATA[ The 32 Most Stunning Emmys Style Moments ]]> While the Oscars and Grammys typically take the award for red-carpet fashion, the Emmy Awards—whether that's Primetime, Daytime or Creative Arts—have served up their fair share of unforgettable looks over the decades since their inception. Some looks are straight off the runway, some looks were custom-made by the world's top designers, but every last one of these looks gets two enthusiastic thumbs up from us.

Thandiwe Newton

Thandiwe Newton

Thandiwe Newton's 2018 look was a bubblegum pink dream more than worthy of her first-ever Emmy (for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series). The Westworld actress made the elegant full-length Brandon Maxwell gown entirely her own, but fun fact: Gigi Hadid had previously modeled it on the runway.

Kathy Bates

Kathy Bates

Kathy Bates is a true red-carpet diva, and it's time she got her due. Her look from the 2016 Emmys is a particular winner in our eyes: She wore a Christian Siriano gown made up of an off-white satin wrap jacket and black full skirt, accessorizing simply with pearl drop earrings and a red lip.

Jackee Harry

Jackee Harry

You probably remember Jackee Harry as Tia's mom from Sister, Sister, but before that she was known for starring in the sitcom 227. In 1987, she positively dazzled in an off-the-shoulder sparkly red tea-length dress with fringe detailing, matching stilettos, and a megawatt smile.

Connie Chung

Connie Chung

Legendary news anchor Connie Chung is most commonly seen in a beautifully tailored pantsuit, but you'd better bet she cleans up good for a red carpet moment. In 2004, she posed in an intricate form-fitting embroidered gown with a tulle skirt, and finished the look with white opera gloves, a sparkling choker, and a red lip.

Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi

Black-ish star Yara Shahidi is an expert at making an entrance. In 2021, she turned heads in an organza and satin ballgown in a striking shade of green by Dior Haute Couture, made even more stunning by her brown stilettos. Two fun facts about this moment: The dress had pockets (!) and Shahidi went back to class straight after the awards ceremony.

Cicely Tyson

Cicely Tyson

Red carpet outfits have a tendency to veer towards the block color end of things, but in 1974 Cicely Tyson demonstrated that a bold print can be just as impactful. The actress was glowing as she received the award for best lead actress in a drama, and "actress of the year - special," making her the first and last person to be awarded that honor.

Greta Lee

Greta Lee

Behold Greta Lee channeling White Swan, but make it fashion. In 2024, the Morning Show and Past Lives actress showed up to the Emmys in a custom Loewe textured white gown. She accentuated the special piece with tanzanite and diamond jewelry from Tiffany & Co., plus silver heeled sandals.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross

Here's Tracee Ellis Ross taking the expression "belle of the ball" and running with it. Fashion connoisseurs will probably recognize this shade of Barbie pink as a Valentino signature—Ross absolutely stole the show in this poofy, fabulous ballgown from the Italian label circa 2018.

Lily Tomlin

Lily Tomlin

Lily Tomlin apparently lives by the Annie line, "You're never fully dressed without a smile." The actress' grin here is as fashionable as is her bold floral tie crop top, although to be fair, we'd be smiling too if we'd just won two whole Emmy awards.

Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland's look here feels very 2014, but in the best way possible. The Modern Family star wore the heck out of a white halter crop top and a coral full skirt, both by Hollywood darling Christian Siriano. Her sleek top knot and Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings were the icing on the cake.

Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore

A very, very bright color is truly the key for stealing the show on the red carpet, a lesson Julianne Moore knows off by heart. In 2012, the Boogie Nights actress wore a canary yellow long-sleeved ballgown from Christian Dior Couture, which perfectly contrasted her famous red hair.

Rachel Brosnahan

Rachel Brosnahan

Nothing says old Hollywood glamour like showing up in theater-curtain red. Rachel Brosnahan opted for classic elegance at the 2018 Emmy Awards, wearing a one-shoulder two-toned red gown by Oscar de la Renta, diamond drop earrings, and her hair neatly pinned back.

Uzo Aduba

Uzo Aduba

Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba went for a no-frills look in 2014, letting her sumptuous bridal-like gown speak for itself. The white column dress was created by Italian designer Ennio Capasa, and the actress accessorized only with a pair of drop earrings.

Christina Applegate

Christina Applegate

The Emmys may be television awards, but Christina Applegate attended them in 2008 looking like the definition of a movie star. She wore a dreamy one-shoulder dress with a train and metallic accents by Reem Acra, plus a pair of Lorraine Schwartz earrings.

Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl

No, you're not looking at Katherine Heigl's wedding day, but winning the award for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series in 2007 is likely to have been another significant moment in Heigl's life. She wowed the star-studded audience in a white off-the-shoulder mermaid gown by Zac Posen.

Betty White

Betty White

Betty White is not a timeless icon for nothing. In 1990, she made sure that her dress would shine as bright as her own star, attending the Emmys in a gown with a glittering top and satin skirt. She wore opulent earrings, rings and a necklace to make the look extra special.

Sandra Oh

Sandra Oh

Sandra Oh has generously given us TV gold over the years, so of course what did she wear to the 2009 Emmys? Well, a gold Marchesa strapless gown and clutch, plus Jimmy Choo shoes and jewelry by Tacori and David Yurman. That year, she was nominated for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series for Grey's Anatomy.

Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren

At the 2006 Emmys, Helen Mirren gratefully accepted the award for outstanding lead actress in a miniseries or movie for Elizabeth I. To really mark the occasion, the British actress wore a white tiered gown with a matching shawl draped around her forearms, and some truly massive jewelry.

Lauren Graham

Lauren Graham

On the 2005 Emmys red carpet, Lauren Graham swapped out her Gilmore Girls pajamas, fun T-shirts and... daisy dukes for a glamorous gown by Pamella Roland. She almost perfectly matched the red carpet in the full-length dress with a small train, worn with silver jewelry and accessories.

Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks

If there's one thing about Tyra Banks, she likes a touch of luxury. At the 2006 Emmys, the America's Next Top Model host wore a whopping $3.5 million worth of diamonds, per People. By contrast, her $55k Georges Chakra glittering black gown was a steal!

Rita Moreno

Rita Moreno

Here's Rita Moreno and Linda Lavin looking as amazing as each other in 1978, but for the purposes of this article, let's take a closer look at the West Side Story star. Her paisley strapless dress with a leg slit is the stuff of dreams, especially paired with satin sandals and opulent jewels.

Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton was the jewel of The O.C., so it's only fitting that she should go to the 2005 Emmys in an all-over bejeweled gown. This Oscar de la Renta creation let the gems do all the talking, with the rest of the design notably understated: a discreet V-neck and mermaid cut.

Lucille Ball

Lucille Ball

Comedy wasn't Lucille Ball's only strong suit: The woman did red-carpet glamour like no other. At the 1957 Emmy Awards, the I Love Lucy creator looked endlessly enchanting in a bead-embellished dress and fur-trimmed coat. She's pictured here with her husband and collaborator Desi Arnaz, whom she would divorce three years later.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry

Halle Berry brought the goth princess glam to the 2000 Emmys. She wore a jaw-dropping, gauzy, strapless black ballgown with lace details, a dropped waist, and a full skirt, and accessorized with just a black choker and some discreet earrings. She won an award and the red carpet fashion show that night.

Courteney Cox

Courteney Cox

The genius of this outfit on a young Courteney Cox is in its simplicity. The Friends-star-to-be attended the Emmys in 1987 in an understated black strappy dress, bedazzled with a small silver star, and paired with a blue patterned bolero and diamond drop earrings.

Mary Tyler Moore

Mary Tyler Moore

No list of iconic looks from the most important television awards would be complete without the one and only Mary Tyler Moore. The actress was gloriously '60s at the 17th annual Emmy Awards in a chiffon full-length dress, white opera gloves, and strings of pearls.

Zendaya

Zendaya

Zendaya is consistently one of the best dressed celebs in Hollywood. She owes this reputation in part to her stylist Law Roach, with whom she has worked on many unforgettable looks, including this one from the 2022 Emmys. Z's structural, strapless black ballgown is by Valentino, and accentuated with Bulgari jewelry.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow

"TV star" isn't usually the first label most of us associate with Gwyneth Paltrow, and yet. At the 2011 Emmys, the actress not only took home the award for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for Glee, but she also dazzled the audience in her black, lacy, sparkly two-piece by Pucci.

Dakota Fanning

Dakota Fanning

This might be the single best thing we've seen in our lives: Dakota Fanning, aged nine, posing her little heart out on the Emmys red carpet in a two-toned pink and black dress, pink sparkly clutch, and black patent mary-janes. This girl was destined to be a star.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker has always been just as fashionable as Carrie Bradshaw. She proved this tenfold at the 2000 Emmy awards, when she modeled a ballerina-inspired Oscar de la Renta dress with silver sandals. The feather-embellished skirt is really something.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is the epitome of "woke up like this." She looked so effortlessly cool at the 1998 Emmys, wearing a flesh-toned gown with glittery embellishments by Randolph Duke Couture. She paired the elegant dress with a diamond bracelet and a sparkly clutch, wearing her hair in a neat tight bun.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez lights up every red carpet she graces, including that of the 2024 Emmys. That year, the Only Murders in the Building star shimmered in a black Ralph Lauren dress with a train and a glittery neckline. She finished the look with what else? Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

<![CDATA[ Dua Lipa Seemingly Confirms Engagement to Callum Turner, Flashing Diamond Signet Ring On *That* Finger ]]> It's official: Dua Lipa is engaged...that, or she's trolling us.

Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Dua Lipa got engaged to her boyfriend Callum Turner over the Christmas holiday. It's been several days now, but neither side has confirmed or denied the impending nuptials. Lipa did, however, post an incredibly pointed photo dump featuring a sparkling diamond ring.

In the pictures, published on New Year's Eve, Lipa is wearing a black lace catsuit for a night out with friends. Three out of 11 photos show her holding a dirty martini toward the camera—diamond ring in full view. Considering the timing, and the fact that her jewelry of choice typically includes a $83,000 Tiffany & Co. necklace, this accessory feels particularly noteworthy.

The sparkler in question appears to be a signet-style diamond ring on a chunky, yellow gold band—a decidedly modern pick, if it is, in fact, an engagement ring.

Statement bands have been trending in the engagement space for a minute, now—ever since Emily Ratajkowski showed off her handmade cigar wedding band in 2018. The choice influenced an entire generation of brides to consider more non-traditional engagement styles— which, in turn, brought unexpected styles, like the signet, into the mainstream.

A few slides later, Lipa also showed off the rest of her look (even if she's not affianced, at least we got a quality fashion moment out of it). The "Dance the Night" singer styled her lace onesie with a black mini dress, for a delightful layering moment. Beyond her maybe-engagement ring, Lipa styled the sultry look with matching black pumps, which featured a crimson red ankle strap detail.

Engagement or not, you've got to admit: that's one gorgeous ring.

<![CDATA[ Bella Hadid Looks Like the First Lady of Rodeo in a Fluffy Penny Lane Coat and Patchwork Boots ]]> The second Jennifer Lopez started wearing cowboy hats and barn jackets in Aspen, it was like a Bat-Signal, calling Bella Hadid to the Rocky Mountains. Mere hours later, the model touched down in Colorado—because wherever horse girl fashion is happening, you can expect her to pull up.

Lopez has spent the last week putting her own stamp on the Western aesthetic. Her take has been decidedly down-to-earth, focussing primarily on wearable ranch hand staples and functional fabrics. Naturally, all this cowgirl energy manifested the OG equestrian babe, who promptly stepped out to show us all how it's done.

On Dec. 30, the First Lady of Rodeo was photographed on date night with boyfriend Adan Banuelos. As usual, she was dressed in early 2000s regalia that featured a subtle notes of Western flavor. She wore a navy blue bodycon dress, with sheer tights and a pair of knee-high patchwork boots (vintage, by the looks of it). She then topped with a sheepskin Penny Lane coat, adding a necessary layer of insulation.

Bella Hadid steps out of Matsuhisa in Aspen with her boyfriend, Adan Banuelos, following a cozy dinner, looking radiant in a dark brown fur-lined coat with multicolored detailing. She paired it with a sleek black mini dress, semi-sheer tights, and knee-high burgundy leather boots. The couple, dating for over a year, looked happy and relaxed as they made their way through the snowy evening.

Once it came time to add accessories, Hadid's country girl style really began to rear its head. She layered on several gold statement necklaces, including: a flat snake chain, a sodalite-embellished pendant, and a medallion style that mimicked the shape of a rodeo belt buckle. Her handbag, too featured a bit of subtle Western flare; The leather hobo bag had a studded strap, which made of what looks to be spotted calf hair.

Hadid's navy-and-espresso color story was the perfect compliment to her boyfriend's laid-back 'fit. Banuelos layered a brown plaid shirt-jacket over a navy button-down. Ever the Southern boy, he merchandized country-style, with blue cowboy boots and a baseball cap to match.

Your move, J.Lo.

<![CDATA[ How 2024 Killed "Controversial" Shoe Trends ]]> It used to be that the worst thing a shoe designer could do was show some toe. Controversial shoe trends were labeled as such online because they revealed more foot than they concealed—and divided the comments sections on Reddit, Instagram, and X (then known as Twitter) in the process. The earliest mesh flats had armchair critics begging shoppers to put their toes away, especially if they lived in a city. Only a narrow in-group embraced Maison Margiela's cleft-toed Tabi line when John Galliano brought it from its roots in Japan to the Western masses in 1988; the rest considered them a little too hoof-like to adopt en masse. And jelly sandals? The court of popular opinion ruled they belonged back in the 1990s.

But by mid-2024, nearly all of street style seemed united in supporting once-polarizing shoes. And Hollywood shoe-connoisseurs led the charge.

Jennifer Lawrence wears jelly sandals with an all white outfit in new york city

Jennifer Lawrence was the jelly sandal resurgence's biggest advocate, wearing her pair by The Row several times during summer 2024. (Image credit: Backgrid)

First came the mesh flat trend, surging to the top of Lyst's Hottest Items Indexes for several quarters in 2023 with help from Alaïa and The Row. Their versions most often ended up on the feet of Hollywood's elite—Zendaya, Jennifer Lawrence, and Anne Hathaway were a few of their biggest fans—and down-market options soon followed in those designers' footsteps once the initial shock wore off.

Then came 2024's jelly sandal trend, reinvented by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's The Row in the form of a latticed, $890 flat and once again embraced almost immediately by Jennifer Lawrence—and then all the Substack cognoscenti. The Row's version sold out with versions from Coach, Melissa, and Loeffler Randall hot on their heels.

Zendaya was one of several celebrities taking the mesh flat from controversial statement shoe to a modern closet staple in 2024. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Mesh flats and jelly sandals traded on early-aughts nostalgia with modern, elevated upgrades. Versions that were popular way-back-when had floral embellishments or glitter mixed into their PVC plastic. 2024's renditions got a little more serious with solid colors and streamlined, foot-hugging shapes. They were also, as reviewers who'd been convinced to show their toes noted, quite breathable during the height of summer while feeling more formal than a flip-flop. By August, mesh flats and jelly sandals didn't read like controversial trends; they were just a trend, period.

When the Spring 2025 runways came around in September, designers decided the time was right to push their foot-first agenda even further. Enter: the runway's naked shoe trend. Stars like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian had already treated clear, PVC-based footwear as a window to their pedicures. (In Lopez's case, pairing naked shoes to loud leopard coats or her collection of rare Birkin bags.) Brandon Maxwell, Tibi, and Alaïa were among the labels who agreed clear shoes had a runway beyond the A-list.

In the front row at fashion week, no one shuddered at the sight of a sock revealed in a clear boot or a pedicure on display under a transparent mule. The response was more, "I'll wear what she's wearing!"

Jennifer Lopez walks in Los Angeles wearing a leopard print faux fur coat with naked shoes and a black birkin bag

Normalizing previously controversial shoe trends didn't stop with naked styles. The formerly divisive, cleft-toed Tabi looked less so with every 2024 sighting, from Zendaya's Tabi boots on a Nordstrom run to Lily-Rose Depp's Tabi flats and pumps traipsing about Los Angeles. Daisy Edgar-Jones bared some toe cleavage in a pair of nude pumps with a slit revealing a sliver of her burgundy pedicure earlier this month; Tory Burch's entire Spring 2025 New York Fashion Week front row endorsed ballerinas with a pierced toe box.

What happened in shoe trends this year happened in ready-to-wear and handbags before: With time, exposure, and a few well-placed celebrity endorsements, previously polarizing footwear started to look a lot more, well, normal. Seeing a few toes wasn't all that scary when they were, technically, encased in fabric—even if it was see-through. In fact, some editors found the look sexier than the underwear-as-pants trend or an actual naked dress.

But for the sake of shoe designers—and hygiene—let's not agree to go completely barefoot by 2025.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lopez Goes Western-Chic in a Custom Cowboy Hat and Chanel Earrings ]]> While spending time in Aspen, Colorado this weekend, Jennifer Lopez pulled off a feat of vacationing goals when she managed to engage in quality family time, high-end shopping, and A-list socializing simultaneously.

The impressive trifecta of vacation memory-making came Friday evening, when the Unstoppable actress was spotted on an outing to western apparel store/Aspen celebrity hot spot Kemo Sabe. According to the Daily Mail, Lopez was out shopping with her 16-year-old child, Emme when she apparently ran into another famous patron at the store—Kevin Costner.

Lopez and the Yellowstone actor were seen sharing a drink at the store's bar, where Oliver Hudson reportedly played bartender for them.

For the shopping trip, Lopez looked like the definition of cozy comfort in a black Moncler Grenoble Hand-Embroidered Alpaca & Wool Polo Neck Jumper that retails for $1,740. She accessorized the sweater with a pair of Chanel CC earrings and a casual top knot that fit easily under Kemo Sabe's iconic cowboy hats, which the singer was photographed trying on during the outing.

Speaking of Kemo Sabe's iconic cowboy hats, Lopez was seen wearing her own custom Stetson 20X Gus hat from the store during the shopping excursion.

Retailing for $750, Kemo Sabe's 20X Gus Hat is an Aspen classic, handmade in the United States from high-quality 20X quality beaver fur felt and featuring a Gus crown. Even what you can't see on the Stetson is luxe, down to its interior leather sweatband and black silk lining (which, the store's website notes, is unique to Stetson 20X hats).

Lopez customized her Kemo Sabe Stetson with a shaft of turquoise and a black feather, according to the Daily Mail.

The Kemo Sabe shopping trip/impromptu celebrity happy hour came amid what's been an utterly luxurious Christmas vacation for Lopez and her family.

In addition to the amazing family photos she's shared to Instagram, Lopez has been seen out and about all over Aspen and showing of a winter wardrobe full of expensive Fair Isle sweaters and chunky winter boots.

<![CDATA[ Rihanna Steals A$AP Rocky's Favorite $1,400 Bottega Veneta Boots for a Casual Trip to Target ]]> Though Rihanna is known for her unexpected style, her outfits usually have a few things in common; She loves borrowing from the boys, she loves Bottega Veneta, and she loves a big furry hat. Generally, her outfits can be counted upon to feature one or all of these things—no matter how different they may be.

Over the weekend Riri was in her truest form, tapping into all three of her favorite aesthetics for a quick trip to Target. On Dec. 29, the beauty mogul was photographed in NYC wearing a vintage leather jacket, styled with dramatic pops of faux fur. She wore a fluffy bucket hat on her head, while clutching a green fur bucket bag in her hands.

Though her accessories were decidedly high-fashion, the base of Rihanna's outfit was pretty typical of a Sunday night Target run. She was dressed in loose-fit staples, including an oversized graphic tee and boyfriend jeans. Rihanna's shoes, meanwhile, belonged to her actual boyfriend, A$AP Rocky (these two love a good matching shoe moment).

The rapper has worn these exact shoes—a pair of $1,400 Bottega Veneta boots from the men's department—on several occasions, even starring in the label's 2023 campaign promoting their release. A$AP's styling wasn't too far off in the photos—he also wore them with medium-wash jeans. But instead of topping with a T-shirt, like Riri, he layered two contrasting denim shirts.

The high-end footwear was a theme of Rihanna's weekend style. She wore the same Haddock boots the day before, on Dec. 28. On this occasion, she paired them with baggy gray jeans and a matching hoodie, layered under a massive fur coat. Her handbag of the day—a woven patent leather bucket bag—was also from the brand.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lopez's Cowgirl 'Fit Proves 2024's Barrel Leg Jeans Trend Isn't Going Anywhere In the New Year ]]> While vacationing in Aspen for the holidays, Jennifer Lopez put her own spin on fashion's Western dressing trend. The pop star spent the week wearing Fair Isle sweaters and felt cowboy hats, starting a new look all her own. I'm calling it: "snow cowgirl."

On Sunday, Dec. 29, Lopez stepped out looking like a walking mood board for the aesthetic she inadvertently coined. She wore a cream-colored turtleneck sweater with a matching 10-gallon hat from Kemo Sabe. From there, Lopez went rustic, topping her winter whites with a navy blue barn jacket (a stable staple beloved by horse girls like Kendall Jenner and Queen Elizabeth II).

On bottom, the "Love Don't Cost a Thing" singer chose another Western-inspired trend, wearing 2024's controversial barrel leg jeans. Jenny from the block looked like a bona fide cowgirl, styling her bow-legged pants with camel hiking boots from Brunello Cucinelli.

Compared to the space cowboy aesthetic popularized by Beyoncè, Lopez's look offers a down-to-earth take on the trend. It centers function-first fabrics, like denim, canvas, wool, and suede over metallics and over-the-top sparkle.

Though hers is a more authentic representation of what a Colorado ranch hand might wear in the winter cold, Lopez was still able to include her usual dose of luxury. Throughout the week, she styled seasonal picks—like fur-lined parkas and fluffy yeti boots—with high-end accessories, such as Chanel earrings and Princess Diana's favorite $5,500 designer handbag.

<![CDATA[ Taylor Swift Wears the $32,200 Diamond Cartier Watch Travis Kelce Bought Her for Christmas ]]> When Taylor Swift wrote her breakup anthem "Bejeweled," she likely didn't realize it was foreshadowing her next relationship. Yet, here she is, two years later, iced out at the hands of her professional football player boyfriend Travis Kelce. My how things change.

On Dec. 29, the pop star made an appearance on the Instagram of her bestie Ashley Avignone. The two linked up in celebration of Avignone's birthday, hugging in front of a sprinkle-covered cake. With their blonde hair and matching black 'fits, the two looked like twins, rather than friends.

Though Avignone was the woman of the hour, Swift made the whole place shimmer. She wore her signature, vivid red lip color (Pat McGrath's LiquiLust Legendary Wear Matte Lipstick, from the looks of it) and accessorized with the sparkly Cartier watch Travis Kelce reportedly bought her for Christmas.

Swift's timepiece—Cartier's famed Panthère De Cartier Watch—is made from 14k yellow gold and costs a cool $32,200 at retail. The extravagant design matched perfectly with the $36,000 diamond earrings she wore that same night.

The watch is a signature Cartier design, originally created in the 1980s. Since then, it's become one of the fine jeweler's most recognizable designs. With 40 brilliant-cut stones set around its square face, Swift's watch truly brings the lyric "a diamond's gotta shine," to life.

Though a five-figure watch is something the rest of us could only dream of, the gift makes up just one small fraction of the $175k Kelce reportedly spent on Swift this holiday season. He also bought her $19k worth of roses, $45k in Tiffany & Co. jewels, $48k of Van Cleef & Arpels, and another high-end timepiece (a $60,350 rose gold style from Rolex). He really took "bejeweled" to a whole new level.

<![CDATA[ Kim Kardashian and Chicago West Wear Different Versions of the Same $1,632 Leather Dress ]]> Though the Kardashians decided to skip out on their usual over-the-top holiday celebrations, the famous family never misses a good photo opportunity. So naturally, they still got together in front of the camera—dressed "to the nines"—to take their annual Christmas card pic.

Kim Kardashian posted the final proofs on Instagram on Dec. 29, bringing a bit of joy to the limbo week between Christmas and New Year. She and her four kids, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm West, all posed in front of a massive snow-covered pine tree wearing coordinating holiday 'fits.

Dressed in varying shades of red and black, each family member brought their own specific brand of style to the mix. The boys were dressed in their streetwear best, while North put a twist on the black-tie dress code, in a collared bustier, bubble skirt, and knee-high yeti boots.

Kim and Chi stood out as the only two dressed in red. Kardashian wore a simple satin column dress, while her daughter was outfitted in red leather. She wore a $1,632 leather mini dress from Ludovic de Saint Sernin layered over a scarlet T-shirt, with matching cowboy boots (easily my favorite look of the bunch).

Though Chicago's outfit was undeniably unique, it was actually a repeat of another look her mom wore earlier this month. Kim wore a nearly-identical crimson creation two weeks prior at the SKIMS company holiday party.

Her dress was another Ludovic de Saint Sernin design, which featured the same lace-up neckline and festive hue. Kardashian's however, was a floor-length column style, similar to the look she'd later wear in the family photos. She posted both outfits on her Instagram Stories, calling Chi her "twin."

Looks like we've got another Kardashian family fashionista on our hands.

<![CDATA[ Zendaya's Best Red Carpet Fashion of 2024 Proves She's Celebrity Style's MVP ]]> What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Zendaya's name? Is it her history-making Emmy awards for her performance on Euphoria, or her turn on Arrakis as the rebel princess Chani in Dune: Part Two? What about her coordinating couple outfits with boyfriend (and Spiderman costar) Tom Holland? Well, if you paid any attention to 2024's red carpets, you associate "Zendaya" with "best-dressed" before anything else.

Zendaya's best red carpet fashion of 2024 cast her as more than a style icon or a devout student of runway history; she's a style chameleon. She made more than 50 red carpet appearances covered by Marie Claire editors this year—and she was readers' most-viewed celebrity when we did. She and image architect Law Roach wrote the book on smart method dressing, dipping into revered runway collections and crafting custom Loewe, Louis Vuitton, and Bottega Veneta pieces (among others) to reference her roles in the sci-fi epic Dune: Part Two and the tennis throuple drama Challengers. She co-chaired the 2024 Met Gala; she got a gold medal in street style at the Paris Olympics. Across every single appearance, her outfit was the most highly anticipated by a mile.

Zendaya's Dune: Part Two press tour is maybe best remembered for her Mugler cyborg suit (left). But Zendaya had many other flexes from emerging brands (Roksanda, center) and more subdued archival pieces (a second Mugler gown, right). (Image credit: Getty Images)

Zendaya's best red carpet fashion stood out for its sheer fearlessness. Some A-listers get comfortable in a sequin peplum gown or a skintight naked dress and never look back. Zendaya, meanwhile, kept viewers on their toes while pushing her own boundaries. From afar, she seemed to embrace glitchy Givenchy cyborg suits (for Dune), tennis-ball greens and Wimbledon whites by Loewe, Thom Browne, and Calvin Klein (for Challengers) and Shakespearean Vivienne Westwood gowns (for just a night out in London) with equal enthusiasm. She even wore a metal—real metal!—cyborg suit from Mugler, just to show her dedication to Dune's futuristic aesthetic.

Even if back-to-back appearances came with pieces designed by the same house, they never looked exactly the same. Her looks varied in shape, texture, and associated glam, but she made the head-to-toe commitment to each, switching out her manicure or dyeing her hair to best accentuate the dress (or suit). She also took the time to champion smaller designers alongside LVMH-backed names, such as the experimental Torishéju Dumi or the Greek couture house Celia Kritharoti.

It's a testament to her red carpet prowess that no one detects the red carpet anxiety she often gets beneath all the wigs, makeup, and gravity-defying dresses. She copped to feeling hesitation toward some looks in her Vanity Fair cover story interview this fall. But ultimately, she said, these outfits are a form of armor and a form of getting into character; she can't help but commit to the bit. "I also think that fashion, in many ways, is a tool for me. I consider myself a shyer person, which I guess you wouldn’t quite realize from the crazy, sometimes ridiculous things that I wear," she said.

For Challengers, Zendaya blended tennis ball chartreuse dresses with Wimbledon white moments, including a '90s Calvin Klein suit, a dreamy Louis Vuitton gown, and a preppy Loewe mini dress (and tennis ball heels). (Image credit: Getty Images)

Objectively, anyone wearing a suit made of metal or a dress that's nearly a century old is going to get headlines. But Zendaya and Roach also stood out among a recent archival fashion surge because they do their research. The pieces they pick out derive from collections with aesthetic ties to the event they're attending or the project Zendaya is promoting. And, the pair supports vintage collectors in the process. "We don't borrow," Roach famously told Vogue during the Dune promotional cycle, "we buy."

These choices feel even more authentic to Zendaya considering that they aren't limited to a single press tour or red carpet. Co-chairing the 2024 Met Gala—a few months after the Dune and Challengers frenzies—Zendaya wore several archival looks befitting the "Garden of Time" theme. Before she even stepped on the museum steps wearing Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano (which was itself inspired by a 1999 Dior piece) she was dropping hints about her look in a vintage floral pre-Met Gala John Galliano dress. She followed up her first dress with a second Galliano design, dated to his tenure at Givenchy during the mid-1990s.

Later in the year, Z paid homage to Cher in a vintage Bob Mackie naked dress circa 2001. The shimmering champagne gown, and its white leather overcoat, were nods to a Cher Show performance from the 1970s. Each of these fashion moments came with hair and makeup to emphasize the dress—and the original context it was worn in.

No one can accuse a Zendaya look's history of overshadowing the look itself. Nothing the actress wears ever wears her, whether it's glittering Armani Privé for the 2024 Oscars or off-the-runway Burberry for a promotional appearance. She and Roach have the range to go subdued or over-the-top, colorful or stark black-and-white, decades-old vintage or brand-new custom. Each distinct look works because it achieves the same end—showcasing Zendaya's leading-lady poise and fashion appreciation—through different means.

Designers have taken notice beyond opening their archives for Roach and Zendaya to raid as much as they please. After years of dedicated commitment to wearing Christian Louboutin's "So Kate" heels, the label is releasing a "Miss Z" pump in Zendaya's honor next year. Louis Vuitton has recently tapped Z to be its ambassador, dressing her for Paris Fashion Week (her one and only front row this past season), tapping her for a long-awaited, early-aughts-coded collab campaign with Takashi Murakami, and even creating bespoke burgundy outfits for her date nights with Tom Holland. When Z likes a house, she wears it frequently and authentically to her personal style. That kind of genuine brand loyalty feels rare while other celebs fleetingly buy into the loud luxury trend.

Seven years ago, when Zendaya was only 21, she appeared on Marie Claire's September 2018 cover in conversation with Janet Mock. She discussed how shaping her style with Roach helped her shape her professional identity at a critical time in her career: the years of early adulthood as she transitioned from child star to capital-A actress. "I wanted to create who I was as a person outside of my Disney character. Fashion helped with that," she said. "My stylist, Law Roach, and I created a world beyond what I was known as through clothes."

No one thinks "former Disney star" when they think of Zendaya now. She's been in too many other projects, and turned too many advanced looks, to be left with only that epithet. Whether audiences associate her most with Tashi Duncan, Chani of Arrakis, Euphoria's Rue Bennett, or the MJ to Tom Holland's Spiderman, they definitely know her as red carpet fashion's MVP now.

<![CDATA[ The Coolest Boots to Ever Grace the Red Carpet ]]> You'd be hard-pressed to find better shoes than on a red carpet. But when celebrities ditch their pumps and flats for statement-making boots and booties, the effect can be breathtaking. Whether A-listers are (somehow) walking in the most towering platforms we've ever seen—think eight inches, minimum—or a bold patterned boot, it's a perfect expression of "wrong shoe theory" (an unusual shoe elevating and completing a look). Ahead, the coolest boots seen on red carpets.

Timothée Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet is never boring when he hits the red carpet, and he never skips the accessory (which is one of the reasons he's such a fashion force). This is the Bones & All premiere at the BFI London Film Festival (2022); Chalamet plays a dark, complicated character so his white suit and lug, square-toed boots also offer a nice contrast.

Taylor Swift

boots - taylor swift

Taylor Swift will break out some daring footwear depending on the context, and this (the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards) is the perfect context for it. Swift likes to play with bold accessories—look at those gloves!—but what's nice is that the boots also offer more coverage over the knee.

David Furnish

boots - David Furnish

Who says women get to have all the fun? Here attending the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party in 2015, David Furnish breaks out a stylish pair of gold shoes. This was before the "daring men's fashion red carpet look" had reached mainstream in the U.S., so the gorgeous metallic touch was a nice surprise.

Tang Wei

boots - Tang Wei

Take a gorgeous two-toned gown (this is at the Decision To Leave (Heojil Kyolshim) screening at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival) and add a pair of extremely casual lace-up boots, and you've got a brilliant contrast in tone. Cannes is the place to be daring, and Tang Wei takes it there.

Sienna Miller

boots - sienna miller

Sienna Miller has excellent style, both in red carpet outfits and street style (which can be hard to pull off). That's because she has a cohesive aesthetic—polished with a vintage feel. She's evolved her boho-chic style to include slouchy boots like this in amongst her lacy, delicate pieces.

Andra Day

boots - andra day

This gorgeous, tie-dye-esque boots on Andra Day (this is at the The Deliverance premiere in 2024) is part of a complete head-to-toe outfit. This is why footwear is so important; the look would be great with black shoes, but keeping the color story going adds so much more.

Madonna

boots - madonna

Madonna is always pushing the envelope, and that includes in her footwear. This is at the The Beatles: Eight Days A Week - The Touring Years premiere, and the music icon is wearing wildly tall booties. The '10s saw some sky-high stilettos, but Madonna is (as ever) going farther than anyone else.

Kim Petras

boots - kim petras

Kim Petras, German singer-songwriter, is wearing some of the best bedazzled booties the Met Gala has ever seen. (The theme was "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," and the black-and-white was very thematic for the evening.) The high hemline lets these wearable works of art steal the show.

Kristen Stewart

boots - kristen stewart

Kristen Stewart, who is a Chanel ambassador, finds creative and interesting ways to style the delicate pieces. This is at the She Came to Me premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, and the lace-up black and white shoes are a nice "wrong shoe" choice (compared with, say, a black pump).

Laura Whitmore

boots - Laura Whitmore

I'm sorry, but these shiny over-the-knee boots are just iconic. Like with other tall boots on this list, the effect is both daring and also full coverage, with a small sliver of skin between the top of the boot and the bottom of the dress. Honestly, this would be a great party look.

Gemma Chan

boots - gemma chan

It's actually a little unusual for Gemma Chan to break out boots on the red carpet (she often favors a high heel), so when she does it feels special. Like a lot of her choices, these metal-toed sock boots give just that extra little bit of surprise and character.

Janelle Monáe

boots - janelle monae

When Janelle Monáe hits the red carpet, it's often in her graphic, black and white style, and it's never ever boring. These two-toned boots are exactly her style, and they give a little visual interest at the bottom of the look so it feels cohesive. Also, how cute would these be with jeans, too?

Taylor Swift

boots - taylor swift

Even when she's going for a more formal dress (this is at the 2019 American Music Awards), Taylor Swift loves a surprise boot. The gorgeous green gown is already a standout, but the over-the-knee sock boot continues the look and makes it feel more streamlined.

Folake Olowofoyeku

boots - Folake Olowofoyeku

Aside from being potentially hard to walk in, these gorgeous brown platform stilettos are pretty perfect. It looks like they're Rick Owens, and the clear block heel in the back plus the ridged contrasting at the front makes it look futuristic and daring.

Heather Graham

boots - heather graham

This is at the premiere of Sherlock Holmes in London in 2009, and the choice of white tie-up booties with black buttons is a nice surprise on Heather Graham. It also feels quite vintage (which, if you think about it, makes sense with the theme of the movie).

Billy Porter

boots - billy porter

Billy Porter has amazing taste in footwear on the red carpet (this is the 2020 Grammys). Actually he has amazing, creative taste, period—the shade on his hat opens and closes! The pants and shoes continue the theme, and the silver boots are custom Coach with over 9,000 crystals.

Mary J. Blige

boots - mary j blige

This feels very Michelangelo-inspired (Mary J. Blige is at the 2018 Met Gala, and she's dressing to the theme "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination"). They're custom-made Versace, and they're delicate while still in keeping with Blige's signature style.

Michelle Yeoh

boots - michelle yeoh

This, at the 2023 Met Gala ("Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty") allowed Michelle Yeoh to break out these glamorous, chain adorned platform boots. The outfit was designed by Karl Lagerfeld Couture, and the pointed toe at the front of the boot is gorgeous and almost architectural.

Lady Gaga

boots - lady gaga

Lady Gaga has given us a multitude of great boots over the years (including platforms literally covered in meat, if you'll recall), but she channeled classic Gaga at the House of Gucci premiere in 2021. This look is—no surprise—Gucci, and she walked in these huuuuge sparkly stilettos with surprising ease.

Victoria Beckham

boots - victoria beckham

Since her Spice Girl days, Victoria Beckham has blessed us with long heeled boots. This is at the "Le Chouchou" Jacquemus' Fashion Show in 2023 at Versailles, France. These blue peep-toe boots are actually thigh-high, and are a wildly creative choice for the middle of summer.

Josh O'Connor

boots - josh oconnor

Any celeb who opts out of a plan black shoe with their suit is doing something cool. Josh O'Connor, at the "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" Met Gala in 2024, is thematic in floral Loewe boots. His character on The Crown, Prince Charles, would be shocked!

Lil Nas X

boots - lil nas x

Lil Nas X has blessed us with many a red carpet boot over the course of his career. But I just really love the motorcycle look at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards—what's particularly awesome about it is that Nas entered the red carpet with the visor of his helmet down, so no one had any idea who it was at first.

Rihanna

boots - rihanna

Technically this is not a red carpet (although one could argue Rihanna makes the whole world her red carpet). But it's impossible to skip over her footwear style—these gorgeous, slouchy, side-buttoned white boots are such a cool choice that it's perfectly her.

Cardi B

boots - cardi b

Cardi B has couture style, but she's always making daring choices that elevate the pieces to her one-of-a-kind look. These white Marc Jacob platforms (she's outside the 2024 Marc Jacobs show) look wildly difficult to walk in, but she's making it look easy.

Miley Cyrus

boots - miley cyrus

While the top part of this outfit on Miley Cyrus is highly not safe for work (think: straps as a top), the boots are absolutely divine. This was at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, and Cyrus was still in her "daring and over-the-top" phase of fashion.

Lizzo

boots - lizzo

Lizzo is dripping in pearls at the 2023 Met Gala ("Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty"), and naturally her shoes continue the theme. Like the rest of her look, these are Chanel, and they're adorned with the silver metal “CC” logo denoting the brand. I have massive shoe envy.

Dan Levy

boots - dan levy

Dan Levy explained on social media that his floral Loewe shoes at the 2021 Met Gala ("In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion") was originally a pair he'd "scoured the internet" for circa 2010. He called it a "full circle moment" to have Jonathan Anderson remake them for him.

Hunter Schafer

boots - hunter schafer

Here attending the premiere of The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes, Hunter Schafer is wearing the most gorgeous, semi-sheer, pin heeled, bedazzled booties. They're from the Alexander McQueen PreAW23 collection, and they match her dress to perfection.

Billy Porter

boots - billy porter

Billy Porter, red carpet legend, accessorized his gorgeous pink gown for the 2023 Golden Globes with studded silver platform booties. These are Jimmy Choo and—in keeping with Porter's style—covered in crystals with a chunky block heel. It's a gorgeous contrast.

Kendall Jenner

boots - kendall jenner

Holy platform! Kendall Jenner is every bit a supermodel, looking like she's floating up the Met Gala stairs (while the rest of us would immediately take a tumble). The theme was "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty," and these Marc Jacobs boots are over eight INCHES high!

Lil Nas X

boots - lil nas x

I just love these pearl-encrusted platform boots on Lil Nas X. This is the 2022 Grammys, and the whole look is stunning (it's custom Balmain, and it's adorned with pearls and crystals everywhere you look). But the shoes feel like the perfect modern touch, and—dare I say it—totally rewearable?

Janelle Monáe

boots - janelle monae

Janelle Monáe had a heck of a look at the 2023 Met Gala ("Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty")—it was multi-stage, with a jacket and corset over top of a black bra and underwear. But these absolutely towering combat boots, by Thom Browne, were massive and cool and instantly iconic.

<![CDATA[ Taylor Swift Pairs a Crystal-Coated Dress With $36,000 Diamond Earrings for a Romantic NYC Date Night ]]> If real life had a yearbook, we'd say Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were actively campaigning for the Cutest Couple superlative.

The pair were spotted out on back-to-back date nights Friday and Saturday in New York City, and they were couples fashion goals both times. On Friday, they were like academia aesthetic mood board come to life for a double date with Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley, both wearing brown jackets over black knits, and on Saturday, they complemented each other perfectly in a red and black Kansas City Chiefs palette.

Kelce stood out in a $1,670 matching red waxed denim jacket and jeans set from Nahmias that he paired with a white logo-print Saint Michael T-shirt, $1, 530 Louis Vuitton X Timberland Ranger boots, a Nahmias Miracle Way Trucker Hat, and $975 burgundy Jacques Marie Mage Alin sunglasses, according to People.

Kelce needed a bold look to avoid getting totally lost next to Swift, who reminded anyone who may have forgotten that she can, still, make the whole place shimmer when she walks into, well, any physical space, really.

The star of Swift's look was an $1,145 ankle-length, crystal-embellished SIMKHAI Giana coat that will definitely be making appearances as wardrobe in your envy dreams (which is currently available on sale for preorder for $995).

Swift looked expensive for the date night because everything on her body was expensive—the "Bejeweled" energy-drenched coat was one of the "bargain" piece in Swift's outfit (the other being the $475 black Fleur Du Mal flared corset mini dress she wore under it).

The "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" singer splashed out on the accessories for the look, which included a $1,095 pair of Christian Louboutin Movida Sabina platform heels and a $2,450 black Stella McCartney Falabella crystal-fringed tote, according to @taylorswiftstyled.

Swift's jewelry was where the outfit's overall price tag really soared though, with her $2,675 Tiffany & Co T Diamond Wire ring in yellow gold and a pair of De Beers Arpeggia One Line drop earrings worth an astounding $36,000, according to People.

For anyone doing the math, that brings the total cost of Swift's date night look to at least $43,840.

<![CDATA[ Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Match in Cozy Knits for Their NYC Date Night ]]> When it comes to daring displays of PDA, you probably think about the usual D's (displays)—hand-holding, kissing, general canoodling—but let's take a second to talk about the bold means of publicly displaying affection that's often less NSFW, more NSNYFW: The coordinating couple's outfit.

It's something many have attempted, but few have mastered. This weekend, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce checked one more box on their "Become a Undisputeable Power Couple" bingo card when they proved they earned a spot in the elusive latter category for their coordinated date night look in shades of brown, gold, and black.

The pair's master class in coordinating couple fashion came Friday night, when they were spotted enjoying a double date in New York City with Swift's frequent collaborator, Jack Antonoff, and his wife, actress Margaret Qualley. According to the Daily Mail (which also has more photos of Swift and Kelce's amazing outfits), the foursome chose Japanese restaurant BondST in NoHo as the venue for the double date/real-life runway.

Both Swift and Kelce wore brown jackets over black knits for the night out and, while Swift paired her black mini-dress with black tights, Kelce pulled his look together with a pair of brown pants.

Swift's look was as expensive as it looked (aka, very), consisting of a $5,500 Stella McCartney Crystal Cage Oversized Blazer in beige tweed with crystal embellishments, a black, $3,490 Versace Crystal La Medusa Mini Bag, $475, sold-out Marc Jacobs Amber Boots, and a pair of $26 Sheertex Modern Diamond Sheer Rip-Resist Tights that served as the outfit's "something normal humans can afford."

As Sarah Chapelle, who runs the popular @taylorswiftstyled Instagram account and literally wrote the book on Swift's style evolution noted in her post about the outfit, the "Fortnight" singer turned to one of her longtime favorite's for the oversized blazer at the center of the look.

"Since 2019, Taylor has had a strong relationship with British designer Stella McCartney. Their connection even spawned a collab for Taylor’s album Lover," Chapelle wrote. "Over the years, Taylor has worn many Stella pieces across her catalogue (bags, shoes, outerwear). This blazer is from the Fall 2024 runway which featured a lot of crystal cage embellishments, as seen on Taylor’s blazer."

<![CDATA[ Katie Holmes and Her Favorite $495 Coat Just Celebrated Their Two Year Anniversary ]]> Benjamin Franklin once said: “In this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes." But, as of yesterday, I think it's safe to add Katie Holmes and her camel top coat to the list.

Every winter, like clockwork, Holmes breaks out her most trusted outerwear to take on New York City's bitter cold. It's a more reliable indicator of temperature than the weather forecast, and certainly more so than Punxsutawney Phil (that quack). When Holmes breaks out her biggest, coziest coat, you know you'd better follow suit.

The jacket in question is a $495 style from The Frankie Shop, renowned makers of simple-but-not-boring basics. Dubbed the Gaia Double-Breasted Wool-Blend Coat, the style boasts a posh double-breasted design, complete with contrasting black buttons, and an ankle-length hem, for maximum coverage.

As always, Holmes ended 2024 with a voyage in her beloved coat. Like so many times before, she stepped out on Dec. 26 wearing the caramel-colored piece. For this occasion, she styled it with another longtime favorite—her Mansur Gavriel Everyday Soft Tote. She finished the cold weather look with flared jeans, black loafers, and a Hello Kitty branded Gaggu.

Almost exactly a year earlier, on Dec. 21 of 2023, Holmes hit the streets in the coat, styled eerily similar. The same black tote was slung over her shoulder, but instead of jeans, she wore gray joggers and a pair of Adidas Sambas. The actor would go on to wear the staple repeatedly that January.

Their love story goes back even further than the 2024 outing. In fact, the pair just celebrated their two-year anniversary together. Holmes first started wearing the Gaia Coat all the way back in 2023, having stepped out on Dec. 8 in her favorite outfit combo. This time, the star layered it over a gray sweater and tapered jeans, with a pair of Western-inspired white boots. In a world of fast fashion and micro trends, theirs is a love story for the ages.

Despited Holmes's near-constant promotion, the Gaia Coat is, by some miracle, still shoppable online. The brown style is sold out on The Frankie Shop's official website, but sharp shoppers can find it on other retailers, such as Moda Operandi. That said, other colorways, are much easier to find. It also comes in ivory and black—both of which, are available on websites, like Mytheresa and Luis Aviaroma.

<![CDATA[ Selena Gomez Coordinates With Fiancé Benny Blanco in a Neutral Coat and Ugg Boots on Christmas ]]> For those who celebrate Christmas, the holiday is often used as a milestone marker for life's most important events. Baby's first Christmas, the first snowfall of Christmas, and a couple's first Christmas together are all considered special and cherished occasions.

Selena Gomez and new husband-to-be, Benny Blanco, are just one of the many couples celebrating their first holiday as fiancés. For the landmark occasion, they touched down in New York City, reportedly attending a party on the evening of Dec. 25.

The newly-affianced pair were dressed casually for the holiday, each outfitted in coordinating shades of camel and winter white. Gomez wore a creamy wrap coat and a matching knit beanie, with oatmeal-colored sweats and Ugg's suede Classic Ultra Mini Shearling Booties.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco spotted for the first time together since engagement news in New York City. The happy couple head out to a holiday party on Christmas night. The pop superstar and actress shared that Benny popped the question recently after a year of dating.

Her camel boots matched perfectly with Blanco's tan top coat. He, however, styled his neutral outerwear with white jeans and snakeskin boots. (A popular choice, as Kim Kardashian also wore snakeskin-printed boots for the holiday.)

Their all-neutral night-out marks the couple's first public outing since Blanco proposed over a romantic picnic display earlier this month. He popped the question with a large marquise diamond on a glitzy, pavé band made of white gold—which Gomez waisted no time posting to social media.

Though the couple only celebrated their one year anniversary earlier this winter, they've been collaborating on music since 2015. "He is my absolute everything in my heart," Gomez previously wrote on Instagram. "He has been the best thing that's ever happened to me. He's still better than anyone I've ever been with."

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lopez Wears a Ralph Lauren Fair Isle Sweater and Her Favorite $1,395 Boots in Aspen ]]> While the rest of us were exchanging gifts from Marshall's and eating family-sized Costco pumpkin pies, Jennifer Lopez was enjoying a luxurious Christmas vacation in the snowy hills of Aspen. Like any good one-percenter, her outfit was equally lavish, with the pop star dressed head-to-toe in designer winter wear.

Saying true to the city's après-ski aesthetic, Lopez's Colorado excursion has been marked by expensive Fair Isle sweaters, loose-fit denim, and chunky, snow-proof boots. On Dec. 26, she continued that pattern, wearing a smattering of cozy basics for a post-holiday outing.

Latte in hand, she was photographed out with her kids wearing an oversized cardigan from Polo Ralph Lauren. Maximizing her outfit's insulating capabilities, Lopez layered the statement knit over a white turtleneck sweater. Her denim of the day was baggy in shape and featured a unique seam detailing down the front, for added interest.

She finalized her day-after-Christmas 'fit with a few well-chosen J.Lo staples. She wore '70s-inspired, square-frame sunglasses (a shape she returns to again and again) and her favorite platform boots. Though Ugg-like in appearance, her camel-colored suede boots are actually from edgy-cool fashion brand R13.

Lopez's outfit coordinated perfectly with her daughter Emme Muñiz, who wore a charcoal gray Fair Isle sweater from Celine. The classic print has been trending among the Hollywood set in preparation for the holiday season.

Just last week, Sydney Sweeney wore a Celine sweater of her own, printed with a design that was nearly identical to Lopez's. Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner styled a Western version for her Architectural Digest home decor tour, pairing it likewise with jeans.

<![CDATA[ Zendaya Wears $8,890 Worth of Reimagined Archival Pieces in New Louis Vuitton x Murakami Campaign ]]> In the early 2000s, famed fashion house Louis Vuitton announced a new collaboration with visual artist Takashi Murakami and inadvertently made fashion history. The fateful drop would become one of the brand's most iconic, with its designs sought-after for years to come.

Even today, these whimsical pieces are difficult to find on the second-hand market, due to unyielding demand from fashion collectors. It's this prolonged popularity that has reunited the two fashion names, once more, some 20 years later. According to a press release, this will entail a "re-edition collection" which "reimagines and updates" the original early-'00s creations. And who better to promote it than Hollywood's resident queen of archival, Zendaya?

After subtly teasing the announcement for weeks, carrying handbags from the unreleased collection, Zendaya starred in the renewed Louis Vuitton x Murakami campaign. The longtime Louis Vuitton ambassador wore separates from the massive 200-piece selection, including a $515 printed scarf tied around her neck as a halter top.

Her nostalgic accessories were washed in LV monograms and joyful Murakami flowers. She wore a $505 leather belt around her bare waste, Carrie Bradshaw-style, and carried a Capucines East-West Mini (which will sell for $6,850 at retail).

Her shoes, too, were pulled straight from the original line—a near-exact replica of a pair released more than 20 years ago. Dubbed the 6AM Mule, the studded sandal will set you back a cool $1,020.

The collection will hit stores Jan. 1 and will feature hundreds of Louis Vuitton classics reimagined with Murakami motifs—heritage styles, like the Keepall, OnTheGo, Speedy, Rolling Trunk, and many, many more.

This expansive drop is only the first half of an ongoing partnership highlighting modern-day remakes. The "second chapter" will be released in March of 2025 and will focus on Murakami's signature cherry blossom pattern.

<![CDATA[ Actually, Birkenstocks Were the Celebrity-Favorite Ugly Shoe of 2024 ]]> After a foot sweat-inducing four-year reign, Ugg boots have finally been usurped as fashion's favorite ugly shoe. In their place, a new contender is quickly converting celebrities like Zendaya, Katie Holmes, Gigi Hadid, and Kaia Gerber into avid fans. Allow me to reintroduce you to Birkenstock: the humble cork-soled German clog and sandal company quietly gunning for a place in your heart and your closet.

Whereas Ugg's trendy platform styles and shearling-lined slippers enjoyed an instantaneous boom during and after the pandemic—a period that led many to prioritize comfort wherever possible—Birkenstock's climb to It-shoe status has been more of a slow burn. Gradually stoked by lucrative collaborations with the likes of Manolo Blahnik, Jil Sander, Proenza Schouler, Rick Owens, Staud, and Tekla, the brand now seems ready to claim its rightful place on the ugly shoe throne.

Dawson's Creek alum Katie Holmes initially picked up a pair of Birkenstocks in 2020. Four years later, she's seemingly still wearing the same pair of black sandals with silver buckles. But crucially, the Broadway star has begun styling her slides in a more elevated way. In April, the 46-year-old street style muse definitively proved the Arizona Birko-Flor can be business casual in a light blue button-up and baggy ivory trousers.

A photo of Katie Holmes accessorizing an oversize blue button-up and baggy white trousers with black Birkenstock sandals in April 2024.

Gigi Hadid may very well be the Birkenstock clog's biggest fan. She wore the shoe at least four times in public this year, beginning with a comfy outfit she devised for an April sleepover at Bradley Cooper's apartment in New York City. In July, the model reached for her taupe suede Birks first for a sweatpants-clad walk through SoHo with Cooper and her beloved yellow Miu Miu bag. Later that month, she was photographed leaving a photoshoot in Manhattan wearing a blue Lesyanebo trench coat, a teal crop top, butter yellow loungewear pants from her cashmere clothing line, Guest in Residence, and yet another pair of clogs—this time in the brand's mink colorway.

Hadid didn't retire her mules when summer ended, though. In fact, her favorite pair popped again not once but twice in fall. After packing the shoes for an October trip to California—where the knitwear mogul famously made her yearlong relationship with Cooper Erewhon-official—she lugged them back to the city for their cutest couple style moment yet. In November, the pair solidified their bond in matching cherry red outfits complete with sneakers for him and beige Birkenstocks for her.

Matching Birkenstocks became a fixture in Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler's relationship at the end of last year. Although the two have possibly parted ways, Gerber's relationship with her Boston clogs is still going strong. She's even acquired a white shearling-lined pair—perfect for walking to ballet class in winter.

Daisy Edgar-Jones shares a similar mindset when it comes to the Birkenstock sandal's aseasonality. In December, the Twisters star made her stance quite clear in a Mango wrap coat paired with black Birkenstock Arizona sandals and matching black socks—a clever way to winterize the shoe for London's blustering winds.

For years, the socks and sandals debate relegated the look to the realm of grandfatherly fashion faux pas, right along with fanny packs and the since-redeemed boat shoe. But it seems justice has finally been served for the socks and sandals trend thanks to the rise of eclectic grandpa style. Even Ashley Olsen co-signed the controversial combo in a navy coat, Celine slides, and white cashmere socks circa November 2023.

A photo of Daisy Edgar-Jones pairing a belted black Mango coat with Birkenstock sandals and matching socks.

Fashion trailblazer Zendaya didn't have to worry about weatherproofing her black suede Birkenstocks after touching down in New York City for the 2024 Gotham Awards. Why? Because the Challengers star had both the courage and the foresight to accessorize her airport outfit with a Louis Vuitton bag and one of the German brand's most intimidating styles: the shearling-lined, closed-toe London model.

More bootie than clog, the London is the even uglier stepsister to this year's ugly shoe of choice. But if Miss Z has deemed it worthy, I suppose it's time to start holding space for an ensuing London loafer trend next year. Case in point: The shoe already underwent its first makeover in September thanks to a collaboration between Japanese label BEAMS and Birkenstock.

Pending the London loafer's come-up, Selena Gomez has your freaky Birkenstock needs covered with a maximalist pair of Arizona sandals. Covered in black shearling and cinched with oversize gold buckles, this spin on the classic slide clearly borrows inspiration from the teddy coat trend resurgence. But the newly engaged billionaire wisely chose not to double down on fuzzy textures here, instead opting to balance the slip-on style with a sleek leather jacket and an understated Prada belt bag for a Black Friday shopping spree with her sister.

So go forth and wear your ugly shoes with pride. You have my permission, and the explicit endorsement of all your favorite celebrities to boot.

<![CDATA[ Hailey Bieber Had Herself a Scandi Little Christmas, In Striped Boxer Shorts and Matching Slippers ]]> The Bieber family (Justin, specifically) is infamous for wearing house slippers in place of real shoes. So it should come as no surprise that on Christmas—the official holiday of themed pajamas—their gay apparel was bedtime-appropriate.

With no Kardashian/Jenner family holiday party to attend, new parents Justin and Hailey celebrated Christmas largely away from the cameras. The only evidence of their holiday behavior was a few snaps on Hailey's Instagram Stories.

The model shared a photo of what she dubbed her "Christmas cozies." She went super casual for the day—not even bothering to change out of her PJs. Bieber wore blue striped boxer shorts (her husband's, perhaps?) in lieu of real pants and styled them with matching boot-style slippers.

The whimsical co-ord set—which costs $70 and $235, respectively—is from Copenhagen-based brand Tekla. The label specializes in Scandinavian-style homeware, such as bath towels, linens, and sleepwear—the majority of which, come in the same breezy striped fabric.

Though she didn't post a full-length pic of her Christmas 'fit, Bieber did share a few detail shots that hinted at her look as a whole. In one, she showed off her signature glazed donut nails, clutching a festive Grinch coffee mug. The same photo also showed a bit of expert layering, with Bieber wearing a gray T-shirt, an oatmeal-colored sweater, and a poplin shirt that matched her Tekla loungewear.

Bieber's holiday outfit is part of a TikTok-viral aesthetic that's been trending since last summer. Her striped boxer shorts, specifically, are straight out of the Scandi girl playbook. Dua Lipa, too, test drove the look, styling her cherry print bikini with a similar pair last October.

<![CDATA[ Kim Kardashian Wears a Skintight Snakeskin Dress and Matching Boots for “Low-Key” Family Christmas Party ]]> Earlier this month, Kim Kardashian told Vogue that this holiday season, her family would be skipping out in their usual extravagant celebrations. "We're doing a really low-key Christmas Eve this year," she told the magazine. "Just because we have a lot of construction going on, so we're doing a really family intimate one that I'm really excited about."

Even so, the reality TV star promised they'd "still be dressing up to the nines"—and clearly, the whole family got the memo. Kendall and Kylie Jenner both coordinated in floor-length winter white gowns, while Kim herself, wore snakeskin from head to toe.

Photo evidence of the Dec. 24 gathering barely made it to social media, but North West did share a video on TikTok that shows Kardashian's outfit in full. She wore a bodycon maxi dress (likely from SKIMS) in a neutral snakeskin print, with scaly boots to match.

Though it may seem like an extravagant pick for a "low-key" family dinner at home, Kardashian's look is actually fairly understated, compared to her usual Christmas Eve looks. In previous years, that's entailed faux fur gowns and dramatic silver shimmer.

In lieu of the family's annual Christmas Eve blow-out, Kardashian hosted two separate, more "intimate" holiday parties, instead. In addition to the night-before get-together, she also threw a holiday party for the SKIMS staff, during which she wore a crimson leather dress with lace-up details. Of course, her Calabasas mansion still got the full holiday treatment, with rows upon rows of sparkling spruce trees.

Rest assured, loyal fans, their famous soirees will likely resume next year. "They're just beginning," Kardashian said in the same interview. "Our kids love them and now all their friends want to come. It's such a fun tradition."

<![CDATA[ Kendall Jenner Wears a $3,900 Silk Dress and Bottega Veneta's Viral Earrings to the Kardashian Family Christmas Party ]]> Though Kendall Jenner's holiday decor was more on the low-key side, her Christmas Eve outfit was nothing short of glamorous. For the annual Kardashian family get-together, she shed her usual gorpcore aesthetic, undergoing an Old Hollywood-inspired transformation.

Following in her sister Kylie's footsteps (who also wore an ivory sequin dress), the supermodel was outfitted in winter white. She wore a silken floor-length gown that featured a vintage-inspired turtleneck and billowing sleeves. The cream-colored creation was from Phoebe Philo's latest collection and costs a cool $3,900 (a merry Christmas, indeed).

Though decidedly elegant from the front, the back of Jenner's dress was much edgier. It had a daring open back, knotted stain ribbon detailing, and an avant-garde neckline that mimicked a classic crew neck.

Styled by Dani Michelle, Jenner's accessories included black pointed-toe pumps and the designer earrings that have topped every fashion editor's wishlist for years: Bottega Veneta's Large Drop Earrings. Retailing for $1,400, the earrings are characterized by their oversized, bubble teardrop shape—which just so happens to resemble festive Christmas baubles.

Jenner's glam look was of the same era, boasting side-swept waves and a romantic, wine-colored lip.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lopez Wears Massive Fur Yeti Boots With Princess Diana's Favorite $5,500 Designer Bag on Christmas ]]> WARNING: The following story contains scenes that may cause flash-backs to middle school dances. Viewer desecration is advised.

While most people associate Christmastime with songs like "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Jingle Bell Rock," Jennifer Lopez's holiday celebrations brought a very different classic to mind: "Low" by Flo Rida.

The singer was photographed on Dec. 25 grabbing lunch at the White House restaurant in Aspen with her family, including kids Max and Emme Muñiz and sister, Lynda. In terms of designers, the meal was equally well-attended, with Lopez sporting separates from Chanel, Dior, and Brunello Cucinelli.

Her holiday ensemble was more functional than festive (unlike the red Christmas dress she wore earlier in the week), featuring ample amounts of plush animal fur.

Dressing for the frigid Colorado temps, she wore Nicole Benisti's Chelsea Fur Trimmed Parka, styled with matching fox fur snow boots from Brunello Cucinelli. The fluffy, yeti-style footwear was glaringly familiar to anyone who attended a school dance during the mid-2000s.

Additional layers included: a white turtleneck, black trousers, and a $4,100 cable knit sweater from Chanel. The only fashion-first aspect of her weather-proof look was her handbag. Lopez carried a mini-sized Lady Dior in matte black—a designer item she's previously worn with Princess Diana-inspired looks (it was re-named for the late royal in 1996).

Judging by Lopez's Christmas Eve look, latte-colored fur was a theme of the holiday. On Dec. 24, she styled Apple Bottom baggy jeans with a red flannel and a massive faux fur coat from Coach x Schott N.Y.C.

If Flo Rida is stuck in your head the rest of the day, you have J.Lo to thank.

<![CDATA[ 2024's Best Celebrity Couple Outfits Say Matching Is a Love Language ]]> Last year, it felt like no one was safe from the evil eye of celebrity divorce. In some cases, the announcement came with a palpable sense of relief. Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady had been bickering about his career’s primacy in their relationship for years. Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez hadn’t been spotted together in public practically since their wedding day two years prior. In other instances, however, the news sent shrapnel flying in every direction. Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner waged an intercontinental war against each other in the court of public opinion. Jeremy Allen White and Addison Timlin’s shocking split exacerbated every woman’s worst fear of someday being replaced by Rosalía.

Indeed, 2023 was a monument to disjointedness. But 2024 emerged from the wreckage strangely optimistic and baggage-free. For the best celebrity couples of 2024, this year was all about embracing the thrill of mutual obsession with matching outfits.

Take Bella Hadid and her rodeo star boyfriend Adan Banuelos, for example. It became clear these two were getting serious when the supermodel quietly moved to Texas. What really put these two on engagement watch, though, was their PDA-filled stint at Kemo Sabe's September pop-up in New York City. After tooling around the city in Western date-night attire, the pair geared up for a horse-cutting demonstration in the middle of the Meatpacking District. Clad in his-and-hers cowboy boots, ten-gallon hats, and leather fringe chaps, they even leaned in for a kiss on horseback.

Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper took their relationship public not with a joint red carpet appearance, but a series of casually-dressed outings that often featured pieces from the model’s cashmere knitwear line, Guest in Residence. After making their love Erewhon-official in sweatpants at the end of October, Hadid was spotted matching her cherry red sweater to his crewneck T-shirt in November.

That same sense of safety and coziness comes across in Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s couple style. In November, just ahead of their one-year anniversary and subsequent engagement, the lovebirds stepped out for a dinner date at Sushi Park in matching clogs.

In between backstage makeout sessions, Dua Lipa and Callum Turner have been jet-setting in style together all year long. In March, their complementary travel outfits—built around sleek leather jackets—seemed to suggest the pop star and her actor beau have been living out of the same suitcase.

Likewise, Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescal already seem to be borrowing clothes—or at least, style cues—from one another. In October, while the two were in town for the singer's back-to-back concerts at Radio City Music Hall, they embraced the graphic T-shirt revival in jeans and indie darling sunglasses.

Of course, compatibility looks different on everyone. In true WAG fashion, Tayor Swift never misses a chance to sport Travis Kelce’s team colors on game day. But even on nights when they’re free to showcase their respective personal styles, they end up dressing alike. What really bonds these two is a shared penchant for maximalism—sartorially and philosophically.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky could teach a masterclass in maximizing your joint slay. These two certainly know how to shut down a red carpet. But nothing epitomizes their mom-and-dad dynamic quite like their matching PUMA sneakers from the rapper’s sold-out collaboration with the brand. One can only hope they’ll repeat the stunt in Rihanna’s new PUMA Avanti cleats.

Zendaya and Tom Holland generally strive to divert attention from their relationship whenever possible. That said, they really cranked up the heat at the launch party for Holland’s zero-alcohol beer brand in burgundy date-night outfits. Color-coordination has never looked so steamy and strategic.

Like a Gen Z spin on Yoko Ono and John Lennon, there’s something so nostalgic about Lily-Rose Depp and 070 Shake’s love. At Shake’s “A Night at the Ballet” listening party in November, the rapper wore a dapper three-piece pinstripe suit while Depp played the ultimate girlfriend in a vintage Chanel drop-waist dress accessorized with opera gloves and a lit Virginia Slim. But the rockstar and rockstar’s girlfriend vibe follows them everywhere they go, really. At a Lakers game in March, I could’ve sworn these two were cosplaying as Kate Moss and Pete Dougherty.

So tell your partner big romantic gestures are out for 2024 and perhaps forever. In a world where labels and formalities seem to matter less and less, the sexiest thing a couple can do together isn't sex or marriage—it's share a wardrobe.

<![CDATA[ Best in Class: The Stories 'MC' Readers Loved in 2024 ]]> What a year it's been. From the election and Brat summer to the Olympics and the never-ending Eras Tour, 2024 was nothing short of a doozy. But for MC's community of powerful, purposeful, and stylish women, it was a year marked by finding inspiration in the everyday.

The humble worker's barn jacket became the jacket trend of the year. The simple act of sandwiching shirts changed how we dressed. Applying Vaseline before perfume was the beauty hack we didn't know (how much) our readers needed.

It was also a year when readers couldn't get enough raw female talent. From Kirsten Dunst and her big return to the silver screen to WNBA darling A’ja Wilson and Industry-rising star Myha’la, our features on female A-listers were some of our most clicked, shared, and read of the year.

In the era of micro-trends and TikTok, defining the year in a few moments is nearly impossible. That said, we did our best to capture 2024 through a look back at the stories that most captured Marie Claire readers' attention.

<![CDATA[ Beyoncé's NFL Christmas Halftime Show Outfit Featured a Dazzling White Bodysuit and Matching Chaps ]]> Months of Cowboy Carter promo in Levi's jeans, cowboy boots, and hundred-gallon hats have culminated in this: Beyoncé's NFL Christmas halftime show at the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens game, and the exquisite avant-cowgirl outfit she wore to perform it.

For the "Texas Hold 'Em" singer's first time performing tracks from her genre-bending album live, stylist Shiona Turini dressed Beyoncé in pieces that could make the entire country say "Yeehaw!"

Beyoncé first rode into NRG Stadium on a white horse while singing "16 Carriages" and "Blackbird", matching her noble steed's white hair in a snowy feathered coat and white hat. Across her coat, she'd fastened a red, white, and blue Cowboy Carter sash set with glittering letters—to complement the miles of diamonds around her neck.

Once Beyoncé strutted out onto the field, she pulled off her feathered coat to reveal a Roberto Cavalli studded white, long-sleeve bodysuit and matching fringed chaps. Both pieces were coated in yards of rhinestones in a western pattern along the sides and front—and accentuated by an equally glittery Cowboy Carter rhinestone belt. Jeffrey Campbell cowboy boots completed her look.

The singer's entire cast of dancers, band, and surprise guests also dressed in snowflake white with smatterings of crystals. Her daughter, Blue Ivy, danced in white flare pants and a tank top; Post Malone joined her for "Levii's Jeans" in a white blazer and denim of his own. Tiera Kennedy, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, and Reyna Roberts also harmonized with Queen Bey at the start of her set, all in coordinating white hats and white corsets by Dolce & Gabbana.

Beyoncé teased her twist on Americana styling in several Netflix spots leading up to her Dec. 25 performance. In an ad released on Christmas Eve, she played the banjo in a glittering silver bustier and a red, white, and blue floral cape tied around her shoulders. Teasers in the weeks leading up to her performance also included an ice princess meets horse girl look by Atelier Biser, featuring a featured white coat and a matching snow white hat. (This earlier white look is, in hindsight, the clearest reference to her eventual halftime show outfit.)

Ever since releasing Cowboy Carter—technically, Act II of her Renaissance musical chapter—last March, Beyoncé and Turini have lassoed into her wardrobe high-fashion upgrades to cowgirl essentials. With the exception of the molten gold Balmain gown she wore to the Mufasa premiere, Beyoncé has largely treated surprise appearances and Instagram 'fit checks as a chance to trot out ten-gallon hats and studded leather pieces. Once memorable look for the iHeartRadio Music Awards involved a vintage Versace set laced with Coyote Ugly energy. She's also brought her yeehaw agenda to life with help from designers including Sergio Hudson, Ferragamo, and vintage Robert Cavalli.

With her Christmas Day performance now in her Cadillac's rearview mirror, Bey can turn her attention to her next highly anticipated event: the Feb. 2 Grammy Awards, where Beyoncé scored 11 nominations.

<![CDATA[ Taylor Swift's Christmas Chiefs Game Outfit Is Still Under Wraps ]]> All Swifties wanted for Christmas was a fresh Taylor Swift Chiefs game outfit—and maybe a Reputation (Taylor's Version) release date or a copy of her Eras Tour book. Alas, Taylor Swift didn't appear to deliver on the first wish list item at the Kansas City Chiefs' Dec. 25 match-up against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

By midway through the second quarter at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA, Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce had made several big plays. (By the fourth quarter, he'd score a game-deciding touchdown.) Online, reports surfaced that the pair had given Christmas gifts to Kelce's Chiefs teammates and their partners. But there was no sign of Taylor Swift and her red, black, gold, and white Chiefs wardrobe present in the stands.

Fans hoped to see Taylor Swift at the Dec. 25 Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers game. She didn't appear to attend. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Wherever Swift spent the holiday, she was probably cheering on the Chiefs—just in cozy pajamas or an après-ski sweater instead of a Versace suit or Vivienne Westwood matching set.

She attended the holiday match-up last year at Arrowhead Stadium with her mom, Andrea, and her brother, Austin, in tow. Swift got festive in a Guest in Residence shearling-lined jacket, layered over a Polo Ralph Lauren sweater and a Hill House Home skirt. Prada platform loafers, a satin bow by Jennifer Behr, and her Pat McGrath red lipstick completed the giftable sideline look.

A holiday showing for Swift and Kelce would be even more romantic than her Dec. 25 track "Christmas Tree Farm." But it makes sense that Swift decided to stay home.

The star hasn't attended Chiefs' away games so far this season, on account of her busy Eras Tour schedule (and security concerns). She stopped by Arrowhead Stadium for the first time since concluding her $2 billion-generating tour on Dec. 21, however, watching Travis Kelce defeat the Houston Texans in a cuddly Charlotte Simone crimson faux fur coat and a vintage Chanel bucket hat. Her jewelry stack also included a sentimental game-day touch: a new diamond ring referencing Travis Kelce in its toi et moi garnet and citrine stones, by jeweler Stephanie Gottlieb.

With the Eras Tour wrapped and the Grammy Awards several weeks away, Swift might have an open schedule to attend Kelce's final games in the lead-up to the Super Bowl. But the next time she grants fans' wishes for another appearance might be even sooner. The Golden Globes are coming up quick on Jan. 5, and Swift attended last year in a green sequin Gucci gown to support her pal Selena Gomez. This year, Gomez is doubly nominated for her roles in Emilia Pérez and Only Murders in the Building—so there's a strong chance Swift shows up to cheer her on again.

Otherwise? She might just break her no-away-game policy and travel to Denver, CO, where Travis Kelce and the Chiefs will face the Denver Broncos on the same date.

<![CDATA[ Every Taylor Swift Chiefs Game Outfit Ranked, From Classic Fan to Designer Touchdown ]]> September 24, 2023, went down in history as the start of a Taylor Swift style era no one saw coming: that of a dedicated Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Barely halfway through her record-breaking Eras Tour, Swift hard-launched her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce from a private box at Arrowhead Stadium. She watched the Chiefs decimate the Chicago Bears (final score: 41-10) in an understated outfit any NFL fan could wear on game day: a Dôen tank top, denim shorts, New Balance sneakers, and a Chiefs windbreaker. The brand behind her jacket's name? New Era.

The "End Game" singer's game-day outfits only leveled up from there. Swift has cheered on Kelce in looks ranging from simple Chiefs crewneck sweatshirts and plaid skirts to a range of designer corsets by Balenciaga, Versace, and Vivienne Westwood. She's gone the distance, too: Earlier this year, the world watched as Swift raced from an Eras concert in Tokyo to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, where she made it time to see Kelce clinch his second Lombardi trophy while wearing a black corset and a braided ponytail.

These looks have all mixed style signatures fans recognize from Swift's album-themed outfits with stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer. Even when she's shopping for number 87 jerseys or garnet-and-gold sweaters, she looks toward women-owned brands, a balance of high-end and accessible labels, and vintage. (Sometimes, she wears all three at once.) Recently, Swift has also embraced 2024's loud luxury trend with a fangirl twist, blending vintage Chanel hats and Louis Vuitton watches with her pro-shop gear and sentimental jewelry.

Taylor Swift has attended 19 Chiefs games so far. Her style has evolved from fan-accessible gear (left, in 2023) to more opulent twists on Chiefs' colors (right, in 2024). (Image credit: Getty Images)

Swift's impact on the NFL—and game-day outfits—can't be overstated. Affordable pieces (and glitter freckles) she wears to games have a tendency of selling out. By February 2024, Swift's presence alone had increased teenage girls' NFL viewership by 53%; the 2023-2024 season was also the highest-viewed football season by women since the league began collecting audience data back in 2000. At the same time that she's brought more viewers on board with football Sundays, Swift has made the weekly tunnel walk that much more enchanting.

The singer's journey with the NFL is far from over: While Swift appeared to skip the Chiefs' Christmas Day 2024 game, they have a very high chance of returning to the Super Bowl field once again in 2025. Translation? More playoff games and more outfits to unpack.

After watching all 20 of Taylor Swift's appearances so far, I've ranked every single game-day outfit the pop star has worn to cheer on the Chiefs. I ordered them on a scale from "classic fan" (think: Chiefs crewnecks, varsity jackets, and under-$150 sneakers) to "designer touchdown" (in the vein of opulent faux fur coats and custom diamond rings that only a celebrity could access), evaluating the designers she chose to wear and the likelihood fans at home could copy the looks themselves.

As a fashion editor and Taylor Swift style expert who's reported on her looks for nearly eight years, I can confirm that all 20 Chiefs game-day outfits show a different side of what Swift has always done best: dressing for a theme and doing so with meaning.

Ready for it? Let the styling games begin.

20. Taylor Swift's Dôen Tank Top and New Balance Sneakers

Taylor Swift attending chiefs games in chiefs color outfits

Taylor Swift went casual for her very first Chiefs game in a white tank top by Dôen and Ksubi denim shorts. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Where were you when Taylor Swift confirmed her relationship with Travis Kelce by accepting his invite to appear at Arrowhead Stadium? I was online, feverishly tracking down her outfit credits. What surfaced online was an outfit every NFL fan has worn to an early-season game at one time or another, with a few trendy additions.

From the ground up, Swift chose a pair of New Balance 550 sneakers, one of 2023's It-shoe styles, in Chiefs colors (red, black, and white). From there, she added a pair of Ksubi denim shorts and a New Era Chiefs windbreaker—plus a white tank top from Dôen. Real fans know Swift also wore Dôen when she shared an Instagram post commemorating "local independent ladies" on the Fourth of July, days before she'd play Arrowhead Stadium on the Eras Tour and start the chain of events leading to her relationship with Kelce. Whether the credit overlap was intentional or not, it was too cute to ignore.

19. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Crewneck and Reformation Loafers

Taylor Swift attending chiefs games in chiefs color outfits

In 2024, Taylor Swift doesn't attend many away games. In 2023, she hit several with fellow WAG Brittany Mahomes by her side. This October 22 visit to SoFi Stadium came with Swift's most instantly shoppable look from her Chiefs repertoire. It included a '90s vintage sweatshirt, a pleated miniskirt, Reformation platform loafers, and Sézane socks. Later in the game, she'd change into a pair of Nike Air Force 1s. Naturally, she choose a pair with a bright red swoosh.

While closer inspection revealed that Swift also wore a Cartier necklace and Maria Tash earrings, the overall vibe was collegiate and casual. In other words? It's a Chiefs game outfit her fans could easily copy and paste.

18. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game WEAR by Erin Andrews Jacket and Balenciaga Bustier

Taylor Swift attends the chiefs x broncos game in 2023 wearing a chiefs windbreaker and a gray pair of pants

Taylor Swift started integrating designers into her Chiefs game fashion with a Balenciaga bustier. (Image credit: Getty Images)

With the exception of her Balenciaga bustier, this Oct. 12, 2023 outfit follows a pattern Swift keeps in mind for several of her Chiefs game ensembles. Her windbreaker comes from sportscaster Erin Andrews' label; her jewelry winks at Travis Kelce with its Chiefs-approved gold and garnet tones. The designer credit is the start of Swift's move toward more opulent brands—but since it's a small part of the overall look, it reads as an overall more accessible moment.

17. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Area Shorts and Christian Louboutin Boots

Taylor Swift attending chiefs games in chiefs color outfits

Taylor Swift brought several of her close friends to cheer on Kelce at MetLife Stadium on Oct. 1, 2023. (Image credit: Getty Images)

With so many close friends joining her in a MetLife Stadium box—Blake Lively! Ryan Reynolds! Hugh Jackman!—cameras were naturally going to track Taylor Swift through the Chiefs vs. New York Jets game on Oct. 1, 2023. She kept things relatively simple, as if urging the NFL commentators to instead focus on the players she was supporting. Specifically, Swift went under-the-radar (for her) in a black long-sleeve top and Area shorts with crystal embellishments. Celebrating Travis Kelce's win later that night, she'd add a leather shacket by Gant over the top.

16. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Vintage Sweatshirt and Custom Rails Skirt

Taylor Swift attending chiefs games in chiefs color outfits

Taylor Swift attended an away game on Dec. 17, 2023, against the Patriots in her cozy-chic Chiefs best. (Image credit: Getty Images)

The big headline out of Taylor Swift's trip to Gillette Stadium was her cheerful smile and wave as Patriots fans booed her (and the Chiefs). She got the last laugh when the Chiefs won the game—and when fans clocked just how instructive her outfit was. Even with the base of a custom plaid mini skirt by Rails, Swift kept things mostly accessible in a logo crewneck sweater, knitted Kut the Kit Beanie, and a Mejuri statement ring. (The gem at its center? Red for the Chiefs, of course.)

15. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Vintage Sweatshirt and Khaite Mini Skirt

Taylor Swift began integrating more designer pieces into her look for the Dec. 10, 2023 match-up with the Buffalo Bills. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Everything Swifties have come to love about their leader's high-low styling was on display in this mid-season look from 2023. Taylor Swift checked the vintage box with a '90s-era Chiefs jumper; the luxury box with a Khaite mini skirt; and the women-owned, affordable box with Mejuri jewelry and Larroudé boots.

14. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Jeff Hamilton Jacket and Louis Vuitton Jewelry

Taylor Swift attends a Chiefs game in a Jeff Hamilton jacket and black jeans

Taylor Swift took a minimalist's approach to game-day styling in a black and white outfit for a 2023 New Year's Eve game. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Taylor Swift kept things fairly simple while taking in the New Year's Eve match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals on Dec. 31, 2023. She traded overt red-and-gold pieces for a sleek, $850 bomber jacket by Jeff Hamilton and black pants that, to this day, haven't been ID'd yet. Underneath, Swift added Christian Louboutin ankle boots, a Louis Vuitton ring, and a belt by The Row: definitely luxurious, but nowhere near as extravagant as some of her other Arrowhead Stadium outfits.

13. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Versace Corset and Denim Shorts

Taylor Swift attending chiefs games in chiefs color outfits

Taylor Swift started the 2024-2025 football season in a Versace denim corset and Daisy Dukes. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Taylor Swift decided to ramp up some of the style signatures from her first season on the NFL sidelines when she returned for round two in September 2024. Attending the Chiefs' home opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 5, she returned to her favorite bustier shape (this time, from Versace), styling it with hot pants by Grlfrnd and over-the-knee Giuseppe Zanotti boots. This look wasn't as overtly Chiefs-coded as some of her others: only her jewelry by Howl and Lizzie Mandler explicitly worked in the garnet and gold team colors. Still, her denim-on-denim had a sentimental element: She wore the exact same corset top in a different fabric on one of her earliest NYC dates with Travis Kelce. How sweet!

12. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game GANT Jacket

Taylor Swift attending chiefs games in chiefs color outfits

Taylor Swift selected a limited-edition jacket by Gant for the AFC Division playoffs on Jan. 21, 2024. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Sportswear brand GANT was one of Taylor Swift's most reached-for labels in 2023. While she usually reserved its overcoats for her downtown New York City dinners with Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez, she selected a special one for the Jan. 21 AFC Playoffs earlier this year. Her red and white bomber jacket came from a limited-edition collab between the designer and Kilo Kish. The piece channeled "Ivy League culture" with a preppy cut and Americana colors (red and white) that also happened to vibe nicely with the Chiefs dress code. While it wasn't as on the nose as her past sweatshirts, it had just as much team spirit.

11. Taylor Swift's Custom Chiefs Game Puffer Jacket and Christian Louboutin Boots

Taylor Swift attending chiefs games in chiefs color outfits

Taylor Swift high-fived fans in a custom jacket during the AFC playoffs against the Miami Dolphins on Jan. 13, 2024. (Image credit: Getty Images)

A few through-the-window glimpses of Swift's custom Chiefs puffer jacket by Kristin Juszczyk (wife of San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk) were all it took for the singer's outerwear to go viral—never mind that she also had paired it with heavy-duty Christian Louboutin boots and a sleek Manu Atelier bag. This outfit earned its spot half-way through my ranking for impact alone. Once Swift commissioned a jacket customized to show off Kelce's name and number, orders for Juszczyk's creations skyrocketed, and she even inked an official deal with the NFL, per CNN.

10. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Vintage T-Shirt and Louis Vuitton Bag

Taylor Swift wearing a chiefs t shirt like a mini dress to a chiefs game

Taylor Swift tried a new vintage styling trick at the Sept. 15, 2024, game against the Cincinnati Bengals. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Sure, this Chiefs game outfit included flashes of Louis Vuitton jewelry and one thigh-high pair of Giuseppe Zanotti boots. But the hints of sparkle came from deceptively affordable necklaces—one is only $128, the other is $120—and the star of the look was a 1996 vintage T-shirt styled like a dress. That's a styling tip anyone can take home with their oversize tees.

For a look as close to Taylor's as possible, source West Side Storey: a local vintage shop in Kansas City that reportedly provided Swift's easygoing, one-of-a-kind mini.

9. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Super Bowl Dion Lee Corset and Area Jeans

Taylor Swift at the Super bowl wearing intentionally ripped jeans with a corset top

Taylor Swift loves a self-reference, and nowhere was that more apparent than her Super Bowl outfit. She winked at some of her earlier Chiefs game appearances throughout her look, starting with a Chiefs bomber jacket from WEAR by Erin Andrews slung over her shoulder. Then came her black Dion Lee corset (a nod to the tops she'd chosen on several sideline occasions) and crystal-lined Area jeans (a parallel to the Area shorts she wore earlier in the season). Christian Louboutin ankle boots, Shay jewelry pendants, and about $10,000-worth of custom Travis Kelce-themed accessories (including a Judith Lieber clutch shaped like a football) completed the trophy-winning look.

8. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Guest in Residence Jacket and Prada Loafers

Taylor Swift looked pretty as a present attending the Chiefs' 2023 Christmas Day game. She filled her outfit with pieces from woman-owned brands, including a plaid Hill House Home skirt and a shearling-lined jacket from Gigi Hadid's Guest in Residence. The elements of luxury arrived in the form of chunky Prada loafers, Foundrae jewelry, and a red Polo Ralph Lauren sweater. With a Jennifer Behr bow tied in her hair and a swipe of her signature red lipstick, Swift's outfit was the gift that kept giving to any Swifties who tuned in.

7. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Cashmere Sweater and Christian Louboutin Boots

In all the adorable press about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce meeting on the field after the 2024 AFC Championship game, you may have overlooked her casual-chic outfit. Then again, how could anyone miss her red Guest in Residence sweater when it was in every photo of the couple's sweet 30 yard-line PDA?

As the tags suggest, Swift wore her Chiefs colors to this Jan. 28 game in support of Kelce while giving her upvote to Gigi Hadid's knitwear label. This game decided whether the Chiefs would make it to the Super Bowl, and Swift chose her good-luck accessories accordingly. Side-by-side with her Jacquie Aiche diamond signet ring and Wove x Michelle Wie West diamond tennis bracelet, she also stacked on a gold ring with an enamel 87 jersey and a heart-shaped Foundrae charm with a "T" for Travis (and Taylor) in the center. Her cashmere sweater and Christian Louboutin boots could've belonged in any daytime luxury outfit, but her sweet, wearable nods to Kelce took them to another level.

6. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Vintage Jacket and Chanel Necklace

Swift's collection of vintage Chiefs jackets grew by another find for her Nov. 4, 2024 stop by the Chiefs-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game. This 1990s coat allegedly came from a fan who listed it on eBay for $169 in August—and sold it directly to Swift's stylist.

Wherever the jacket came from, there's no denying how it works with Swift's Agolde shorts, knee-high Christian Louboutin cowboy boots, Dior saddle bag, and slate of rare jewelry. It's a riff on the proportions she'd worn for several other Chiefs games at this point—just amplified and elevated with flashier designer names. Mixed in with familiar, sentimental ruby rings and Louis Vuitton earrings, the singer also added a new-to-her vintage Chanel necklace.

5. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Louis Vuitton Sweater and Alaïa Boots

A red quarter zip sweater and black skinny jeans could belong in any Chiefs fan's closet. But the Taylor's Version of this down-to-earth look has above-average credits. Swift elevated her luxe-finish Paige jeans from the 2023 season with a Louis Vuitton knit retailing for $4,900, platform Alaïa boots valued at $1,650, and a $2,390 Versace crossbody bag. She also returned to one of her favorite jewelers, Dana Rebecca, for hoop earrings studded with marquise-cut diamonds.

The most points-worthy aspect of this outfit is honestly how it debuted: alongside Donna Kelce, who coordinated with Swift in black leather-like pants of her own.

4. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Versace Suit and Thigh-High Boots

Versace, Versace, Versace. Every piece of Swift's red-and-black CEO outfit and major accessories (that is, her shoes and bag) for the Nov. 10, 2024 Chiefs game against the Denver Broncos came with Donatella's signature except for one. Her corset, while resembling the Versace design appearing on an early 2023 date with Kelce, was actually pulled from the Victoria's Secret sale rack.

Meanwhile, Swift's jewelry and timepiece leaned all the way into the businesswoman-chic energy of her checkered suit and elegant French twist. Along with her $54,000 Louis Vuitton Tambour watch, she also displayed ruby, diamond, and garnet jewelry from David Yurman, Effy, and Retrouvai. She could have gone straight from the sidelines to the Universal Music Group boardroom in this notably not-sporty game-day outfit. I hope she had cozy plans with Kelce instead.

3. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Vivienne Westwood Set

If Taylor Swift's Tortured Poets Department era fashion had to be summed up by a single designer, it would be Vivienne Westwood. The London-founded label's corsets and draped dressed have starred in Swift's closet since mid-2023, when she first began teasing her upcoming music. She's worn everything from Westwood's drop waist dresses to matching plaid skirt suits and watercolor gowns—and when her latest album joined the Eras Tour set list, Westwood created two custom white dresses for Swift's performances.

Eras combined at the Oct. 7 Chiefs game against the New Orleans Saints. Swift arrived in a plaid-on-plaid Vivienne Westwood set, featuring a draped, off-the-shoulder top and a pleated mini skirt. She piled on the designer's orb logos throughout the rest of her outfit, including drop logo earrings and a jacquard-print bag. This outfit earns its No.3 spot for its literal head-to-toe commitment to one significant designer, as well as its jewelry. Swift also piled on gems valued at well over $20,000 in aggregate, including her vintage Cartier necklace, Effy ruby and diamond rings, Jacquie Aiche bracelets, and Maria Tash diamond earrings. The plaid print may have been Poets-coded, but the accessories were Midnights-bejeweled.

2. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Charlotte Simone Coat and Vintage Chanel Bucket Hat

On Dec. 21, Swift attended the Chiefs' game against the Houston Texans in a cuddly Charlotte Simone coat and vintage Chanel bucket hat. (Image credit: Getty Images)

When Taylor Swift exited her private golf cart for her Arrrowhead Stadium tunnel walk on Dec. 21, fans on X had the same refrain: "She looks expensive." I happen to agree. Swift's Charlotte Simone faux fur coat, Manolo Blahnik boots, Tod's bag, and vintage Chanel hat combine rich textures into a game-day look that's, well, rich.

The most superlative part of her outfit wasn't quite as easy to see. Her Penny Lane coat's wispy oversize sleeves concealed two special pieces of jewelry: a new diamond, garnet, and citrine ring by Stephanie Gottlieb plus an Effy Jewelry diamond ring. The former's toi et moi (that's French for "you and me") setting symbolizes Taylor and Travis through two gems in Chiefs colors, surrounded by a band of tiny twinkling diamonds.

1. Taylor Swift's Chiefs Game Stella McCartney Coat, Stuart Weitzman Boots, and Cartier Jewelry

This look from Taylor Swift's appearance at the Dec. 3, 2023 game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers is the epitome of a private box outfit in my book. First, because it brings together several of the pop star's favorite luxury designers, in the form of her '80s Cartier Argrafe necklace (valued at $21,500 when it was listed at Wilson's Estate Jewelry), thigh-high Stuart Weitzman boots, and Louis Vuitton mini skirt. Second, because it also works in Swift's penchant for supporting the people she loves while also championing her friends' businesses. Her red teddy bear coat (which initially sold for $2,400) comes from Stella McCartney: a close friend and eco-conscious designer she's worn dozens of times over the years.

The textured coat is beyond cozy for a winter game; the single, statement piece paired to sleek boots and a mini skirt works in Chiefs colors while doubling as an elegant, out-to-dinner outfit. Swift could easily have chosen this look for one of her trips to Via Carota or The Corner Store. In sum: This is the outfit of a No.1 fan with a cheer section of her own.

<![CDATA[ Dua Lipa's Christmas Eve Outfit Includes High-Shine Leggings and the Polarizing Moon Boots Trend ]]> There are some fashion designs so controversial and so polarizing, you simply can't help but respect them for it. This mostly applies to comfort-first footwear, like Ugg boots, Crocs, Birkenstocks, and, of course, Margiela Tabis. All of these shoe styles have seen a surge in demand in recent years, but with the winter season in full force, Moon Boots are in their popular girl era.

Stars have continually co-signed the outsized shoe trend all season long, with stars like Heidi Klum and Millie Bobby Brown (who expertly matched them to her poodle) sporting the style. But even the most dedicated Moon Boot lover seems fair-weather when compared to the label's number one fan and biggest supporter, Dua Lipa.

The pop star has been leading fashion's Moon Boot take-over for years, with the help of her impressive snow boot collection. Her cold-weather arsenal boasts a range of styles: a $195 red pair that hits at her ankles, a shaggy white fur style from the GCDS x Hello Kitty collab, and, the most recent addition, a knee-high pair covered in spotted cow fur.

On Christmas Eve, Lipa shared a holiday-themed photo dump and, naturally, the hero image featured her cow print Moon Boots. The pair featured black criss-cross chords and the label's signature logo in bright yellow. With contrasting colors and a loud print, these babies might be the most contentious pair she owns (and that's really saying something).

Looking like a regulation ski bunny, the "Sweetest Pie" singer styled her statement boots with high-shine leggings and a fur-lined sheepskin coat. The final touch on her holiday 'fit was a pair of sequin reindeer ears that sat whimsically atop her head.

Though Lipa's exact boots are currently sold out (unfortunate, yet unsurprising), fellow stans can shop dozens of equally-audacious styles, right ahead.

<![CDATA[ Kendall Jenner's Fair Isle Sweater and Black Jeans Are a Western Take on a Classic Christmas Outfit ]]> The Kardashian/Jenner family is famous for many things—and their extravagant Christmas celebrations top that list. Their annual holiday parties include all the trappings of a billionaire Christmas: fake snow machines, custom designer gifts, and a whole lot of skin-tight velvet.

But being the designated low-key sister of the group, Kendall Jenner's holiday festivities are much more down-to-earth. In Architectural Digest's latest issue, the supermodel gave an all-access tour of her Spanish-style Los Angeles mansion. Similar to her fashion sense, Jenner's seasonal decor centers vintage treasures over overt displays of wealth.

“My whole life, I’ve loved vintage when it comes to clothing or furniture,” she told the magazine. “Anything that looks like it’s about to fall apart is usually what I gravitate to. Or anything that feels like it has history or character.”

In terms of decor, that means vintage ornaments, rustic garland, and subtle equestrian influences. When it comes to fashion, the Kardashians star applies these same principles, often reaching for Western-inspired 'fits that match her home's androgynous aesthetic.

“If I had a modern home, I might go a little bit more modern,” Jenner says. “I’m following the vibe and the character that my house has—and vintage is just what my house screams.”

For her AD photoshoot, Jenner chose an outfit that embodied this same vibe. She was dressed in a simple blue button-down and a retro Fair Isle sweater. Leaning into her signature tomboy look, Jenner styled the pairing with black-washed, straight-leg jeans and a matching leather belt. It was a stark contrast to the curve-hugging leather dress Kim Kardashian wore to her SKIMS company holiday party last weekend.

Her intricate sweater is a holiday favorite among Hollywood's street style stars. Last weekend, Jennifer Lopez wore a Fair Isle cardigan with light-wash jeans for a more luxe take on Jenner's classic combo. The week before, Sydney Sweeney wore two different Fair Isle sweaters (one Gucci and one Celine) in a 24-hour period—both were styled with trousers à la Jenner.

It's a classic that simply never goes out of style—which means it makes a great Christmas present. Gift like a Jenner, with the similar styles you can shop, ahead.

<![CDATA[ Gracie Abrams and Camila Morrone Meet for a Wine-Soaked Girl Dinner in Matching Chanel Hobo Bags ]]> Gracie Abrams and Camila Morrone held a long overdue girl dinner summit in New York City on Dec. 21. The pair met for dinner at Via Carota while the pop star is on a break from touring until February. Given that Abrams is scheduled to spend most of next year criss-crossing the globe, I can completely understand why the two jumped at the chance to have a little one-on-one time.

Their friendship style was on full display during the outing in matching black Chanel hobo bags with chunky gold chain straps. Morrone's quilted shoulder bag looked a bit roomier, suggesting it likely comes from the French fashion house's Spring 2022 collection by Virginie Viard. The Secret of Us singer's purse was much more petite and perhaps comes from the Chanel Fall 2024/25 pre-collection Morrone modeled in campaign imagery.

A photo of Gracie Abrams and Camila Morrone leaving dinner at Via Carota in New York City.

The Daisy Jones & The Six actor layered a black wrap coat over what appeared to be a black Dôen mini dress trimmed with white lace and buttons at the collar. She accessorized her festive ensemble with a pair of black lace-up combat boots.

Abrams—who recently opened the last night of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour—favored a black funnel-neck coat and black platform boots with a square toe. In October, the Grammy nominee hard-launched her relationship with Gladiator actor Paul Mescal with his-and-hers graphic T-shirts. Evidently, the 25-year-old loves to coordinate her outfits with those she holds dear.

Undoubtedly, plenty of gossip was spilled over wine and pasta during the pair's pre-Christmas hang. They even seem to have stopped for cigarettes on the way home. But I suppose what happens between Chanel darlings at Via Carota should probably stay between Chanel darlings at Via Carota.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lopez Styles a Red-Hot Christmas Dress With Her Signature Hoop Earrings ]]> 'Twas two nights before Christmas and all through J.Lo's house, red satin was glistening, but it wasn't a blouse. Hoop earrings were hung from her earlobes with care, in hopes that Saint Laurent presents soon would be there. Lopez was all dressed up in her red, while chic curtain bangs hung from her head...

That's my over-the-top way of saying: Jennifer Lopez wore a red dress on Christmas Eve eve. On Dec. 23, the pop star promoted a few holiday gifts of her own on Instagram. She tested out some "glowy" J.Lo Beauty products, dabbing various shimmers on her lips, cheeks, and chest, before heading out the door.

Though Lopez's Head to Toe Glow Kit is certainly worthy of your holiday wishlist, I'm planning to write Santa a strongly-worded letter about her little red dress. The "On the Floor" singer was draped in festive crimson satin, via a button-down mini. It featured a spicy little thigh slit and a wrap detail at the waist. Professional on top, a little NSFW on bottom, and loud luxury all over—it was exactly J.Lo's vibe.

In typical Lopez fashion, she accessorized with her signature gold hoop earrings. These ones, specifically, were studded for a little bit of holiday flare. In addition to her shimmery glam, the star was also having an impeccable hair day. Her blonde hair was curled in waves, with bouncy curtain bangs.

Lopez has been dressing for the season all week long. On Dec. 21, she met up with ex-husband Ben Affleck wearing a delightful après-ski sweater. Again, she wore hoop earrings and styled the knit with wide-leg jeans.

All these outfits pose a Christmas question: Maybe the phrase should be "Santa's slay."

<![CDATA[ The Loud Luxury Trend Says Celebrities Are Over Dressing "Just Like Us" ]]> One look at any given year's celebrity street style can tell you Hollywood's elite are, well, loaded. But in 2024, stars like Jennifer Lopez, Hailey Bieber, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift tended to wear their bank account balances and billionaire valuations on their sleeves.

The beige tyranny of "quiet luxury"—a term coined in early 2023 to describe high-quality, minimalist fashion that signaled wealth in its simplicity—came to an end in celebrity street style this year. Instead of plain neutrals and anonymous leather bags, celebrities' everyday outfits (for non-red-carpet occasions, at least) dialed up the volume on exaggerated textures, bold prints, rare jewelry, and logos big enough to see from space. Even when these outfits included a proverbial, accessible "low" (like Ugg boots, Birkenstock sandals, or Longchamp Le Pliage bags), celebrities styled them with clothing on the other—Mt. Everest "high"—end of the spectrum. Forget being "just like" their biggest fans; these outfits reminded anyone looking on that they're in their own untouchable stratosphere.

There's no one-way celebrities took on the loud luxury trend; they tailored it to their own wardrobes and personal tastes. For an A-lister, loud luxury is going to church in $ 10,000 worth of leopard prints (like Hailey Bieber, dressed in Toteme and Saint Laurent) or going to dinner in vintage Dolce & Gabbana furs with an equally fuzzy Louis Vuitton bag (like Rihanna). It translated to matching a Chanel flap bag to every sequin, floral, and animal print in your wardrobe (like Blake Lively). Or, if you're Selena Gomez, it's debuting your billionaire status with Prada bags and an endless array of designer little black dresses via Saint Laurent, Valentino, and Versace.

But no celebrity embodied the loud luxury trend quite like Jennifer Lopez and her Birkin bag collection. Lopez flaunted at least ten this year—Hermes's most recognizable and exclusive piece. In past years, she most often carried hers with gym clothes or jeans, but in 2024, the Unstoppable star paired them with oversized fur coats, see-through naked shoes, and printed dresses. In a year partially defined by divorce and a canceled tour, Lopez's outfit choices said she'd keep living out loud regardless of what's happening in the tabloids. And there's no better retail therapy in her world than shopping for a new Kelly bag.

The loud luxury trend's dominance even spread to celebrities who usually reserve their biggest designer credits for the red carpet or their world tour. Taylor Swift shed some of her girl-next-door street style signatures in favor of bolder logos and "Bejeweled" accessories, from a $54,000 Louis Vuitton watch to Dior's saddle bag and several Gucci-printed going-out outfits. She's at the height of her powers musically and, per her 2023 Time Person of the Year interview, done with trying to hide her life, relationships, and ambition. Her custom diamond rings and Chanel chain necklaces are a manifestation of that personal mission.

Overall, some of the loud luxury trend's new rise is the fashion pendulum doing what it does best: swinging back where it came from. Designers throughout the Paris, Milan, and New York shows have abandoned incognito mode styling for sequins, animal prints, and exaggerated shapes that take up space. They've also revived definable archival pieces from the early aughts—like the Louis Vuitton Speedy or the Balenciaga City Bag. Meanwhile, the Data But Make It Fashion site reports searches for "quiet luxury" are declining nationwide. Flying under the radar is only so fulfilling for so long. Ask any celebrity who's gone off the grid only to make an oh-so-sweet major comeback.

And for A-listers, there's a stronger connection between runways and real life than how the other 99.9% dress. Celebrity street style is as much a business as it is pure self-expression. Some street style looks layer on the double-G or -C logos because they're contractually obligated to include them. As luxury sales worldwide start to decline, per Reuters—and spending power for the average shopper decreases with it—designers rely on their most influential ambassadors and walking billboards to ignite desire and maintain interest until the markets rebound and more of us can treat ourselves to luxury bags and shoes.

Blake Lively wearing the loud luxury trend with a crochet chanel bag in new york city

Blake Lively's run of method dressing—for her film It Ends With Us and for screenings of Wicked—came with coordinating Chanel double-C logo bags. (Image credit: Getty Images)

The loud luxury trend can also be seen through a more straightforward lens: these celebrities are savvy businesswomen who have worked hard for their wealth and want to enjoy it. This is especially true for newly minted billionaires like Swift and Gomez, who seem intent on showcasing that their success and spending power stems directly from their own efforts. And in a post-girlboss, post-cancel-culture internet, they can tune out the "Eat the Rich" criticism online to the sound of their Birkins' charms singing their own little tune.

So trust that the next time you spot Hailey Bieber in $90 Adidas or Selena Gomez in her Birkenstock sandals, their recognizable friends Louis, Fendi, and Prada will probably be nearby. Because they’re not just like us—and they can afford to make that perfectly clear.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lopez Reunites With Ben Affleck for Lunch in an Anti-Revenge Après-Ski Sweater ]]> It's now been four months since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck filed for divorce. From the outside, it appears the pair is cordial—and in the singer's case, no longer dressing for payback.

On Dec. 21, Lopez and Affleck reunited for lunch at Soho House in West Hollywood. The "On the Floor" singer left her racks of revenge dresses and crop tops in the closet, opting instead for a "we're on good terms" cardigan. Specifically, she chose an ivory Polo Ralph Lauren sweater with navy intarsia patterns along the front. Paired with light-wash jeans, ankle boots, and hoop earrings, the overall vibe felt more après-ski than divorce attorney.

Affleck, photographed separately, seemed to be firmly in his blue period, with blue jeans, a blue sweater, and blue Nike sneakers.

Jennifer Lopez has always been known for wearing the finer things. Ever since her separation from Affleck (revealed in court filings to have started on April 26 this year), she's leaned even more into treating herself. Her Birkin bag collection has never gotten more play than over this summer, a period when she turned 55 in Dior dresses, Chanel shirts, and the contents of an entire LoveShackFancy store.

Post-separation interactions with her ex came with her high-wattage take on the fabled revenge dress (of Princess Diana fame). Lopez's red-carpet version, debuting for the premiere of a film Affleck produced, was a mirrored Tamara Ralph number held together at the sides with nothing but black ribbons. She also wore her share of revealing naked dresses at the Wicked premiere—and when she linked up with Affleck for another lunch earlier this fall, she chose a belly-baring crop top and flare jeans.

All these months later, Lopez's cozy après-ski sweater looks like a confident choice. Revenge dresses tell the world you're doing better than you ever were; cocooning knits say you have nothing to prove. Or, they could just be her latest purchase from Saturday's Birkin-and-coat shopping spree at LA's Ralph Lauren flagship.

Recent interviews suggest it's more of the former. Speaking to British Vogue, Lopez framed the "hardships" she's faced this year as lessons.

"I think the way I overcome things is not by thinking of them as happening to me, but happening for me and what is the lesson that needs to be learned in the moment," she said. "When I think of things that way and stay in a kind of a more positive mindset about it, it’s easier to kind of embrace it for the lesson that it is."

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lawrence's Pregnancy Style Cravings Include a Maison Margiela Diaper Bag and a $6,025 Wrap Coat ]]> As a woman who very much values her independence, being responsible for tiny humans has never really appealed to me. I love my New York fashion editor life, which consists of designer handbags and fashion week parties and late-nights sipping espresso martinis. The only version of motherhood I would consider is one that still encompasses all these things—like Jennifer Lawrence's version, for example.

Though I can't confirm the NYFW parties or coffee-flavored beverages, I can confidently report that the actor's desire for designer hasn't wavered an inch. In fact, some of her best looks ever have been accessorized with a growing baby bump. Thus far, Lawrence's pregnancy cravings have included: a chocolate-colored Bottega Veneta dress, a rare $33,00 handbag from The Row, and a little archival Christian Lacroix moment.

Even on her most casual days, the No Hard Feelings star still has a taste for the luxurious. She's especially partial to her $6,025 Loro Piana wrap coat. Lawrence was spotted wearing it on Dec. 17, then again on Saturday, Dec. 21—when she styled the khaki outerwear with black pants and a clementine orange scarf.

Her high-end affinity extends even to the most basic of parenting staples. Instead of a traditional diaper bag, Lawrence packed her mom essentials into a jumbo Maison Margiela handbag. The $1,390 patchwork style isn't technically intended for baby wipes and blankets, but its oversize shape and cross-body strap are perfect for holding that and more.

Beyond her leather bag and neutral coat, Lawrence's look contained a few more stylish accessories. She also wore comfy flat shoes (her go-to as of late) and a pair of tortoise shell sunglasses—which are available to shop below.

Mother! is truly mothering.

<![CDATA[ Angelica Hicks Can Turn Literally Anything in Your House Into High Fashion ]]> As an artist with a niche talent for recreating runway and red carpet looks, Angelica Hicks knew she could DIY Zendaya's Louis Vuitton outfit from Paris Fashion Week. So, the Brooklyn-based Brit borrowed her boyfriend's tuxedo jacket, scrunched a set of bedsheets into a bubble skirt identical to Z's, and ripped the white 'We Heart Our Customers' cover off her dry cleaning to strategically use it as lapels. A red Coca-Cola label became a brooch, and a black plastic bag from last night's Chinese takeout turned into a designer handbag. The pièce de résistance, in Hicks's opinion, was the crocodile Haribo gummy flipped marshmallow side up—a perfect interpretation of the white button on Zendaya's blazer.

"I found the Haribo crocodiles at the deli check-out when I was buying the Coke [to use as the Louis Vuitton brooch]," the social media superstar says over the phone. "I had this light bulb moment and just knew the candies were the perfect final touch. That ah-ha moment doesn't come every time, but when it does, it's extremely satisfying, and it's [usually] when I [start to] think, 'Oh shit—this look might pop off."

Interior graphic of Angelica Hicks

And she’s often right. Hicks has had more than a few creations go viral, drawing 740,000 Instagram followers and over 616,000 TikTok fans eager to see her transform trash into surrealist high-fashion replicas. "You are truly one of the most imaginative creative beings on the internet," one Instagram commenter wrote on her Zendaya-Louis Vuitton video.

She's also caught the national media's attention. You may have seen Hicks on Good Morning America earlier this year when she remade Ariana Grande's 2024 Oscars dress with baby pink tees and balled-up newspapers shoved inside a down comforter. Or her take on Taylor Swift's 2024 Grammys outfit using bed linens, cardstock, duct tape, tinsel, and a Ricola lozenge. The latter did the rounds on TikTok and currently counts over forty-four million views and three-point-seven million likes.

Some of her sharp eye for detail is likely traced back to her studies as an art history student at the University College London and early career as an illustrator crafting fashion drawings laced with witty wordplay—think an amphibian dubbed "Jil Salamander" or loaves of bread cleverly labeled as Gucci loafers. In 2021, she started recreating high-fashion looks with household materials and posting them as quick-cut, under-60-second videos on social media. Her goal? Pure cheeky fun. “I see [the recreation videos] as an extension of my illustrations and a hysterical way to engage with fashion,” she explains. For the absurdist artist, fashion’s charm lies in its inherent silliness.

“Fashion is about imagination—it’s childlike,” Hicks says. “As kids, we turn a cardboard box into a fort. My work abstracts objects in the same playful way. It's magical when you can find that childlike, make-believe imagination as an adult.”

In this installment of Have You Met, Hicks takes Marie Claire inside her creative process and the whimsical approach that’s made her an internet sensation and a designer in her own right—proving that sometimes fashion can make the most impact when it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Marie Claire: When did you make the connection between comedy and high-fashion recreations?

Angelica Hicks: When I look at a red carpet or runway, to me, the funniness has always been, 'Oh, this looks like that, but it's not.' So, about four years ago, I just started making videos to explore that idea.

I enjoy the trompe l'oeil nature of a Ferrero Rocher wrapper that approximates what a Schiappareli button looks like. There's also the ridiculousness and comedy in the abstraction of an everyday object, like using an AC vent to do a Louis Vuitton sleeve. That's fun.

When I was younger, kids wanted to either be funny or cool and, to me, being funny was always the best and biggest compliment. So, when I receive comments, like, ‘Oh my God, I really needed to laugh today,’ it makes me so happy. That's the highest praise I can get and when I hear that today, I am like, ‘Yes!’ I mean, making people laugh—is there anything better?

MC: When did your fascination with fashion begin?

AH: My mom was a fashion designer, and her strong sense of style shaped me early on. She taught me that expensive doesn’t always mean better and instilled an appreciation for finding treasures in vintage shops. Some of my earliest memories are of shopping with her and watching her get dressed, which gave me a deep respect for the art of putting together an outfit.

MC: Your video editing is such a key part of your content. How did you discover that format?

AH: I remember doing a still image comparison of a Gucci runway look with a Dr. Jart face mask early on in my videos. This was around when videos were getting big [on social media], and I realized using them would be cool to help [drive home] the joke even more. Not everyone knows what a Dr. Jart face mask is, so if I'm unpackaging it, putting it on, and doing it deadpan, it's an extension of the joke—almost like a mime.

MC: How does an idea take shape?

AH: I begin mapping out a look by walking around my apartment to see what’s available. But sometimes I’ll get an idea of, ‘Okay, well, I really want to use cabbage here.’ So, I’ll have to go out and buy cabbage.

People respond to watching someone eat, so using edible materials is great because I also get a little treat. When I don’t have an edible element, I get comments like, ‘Oh my God, no snack this time!’ So, sometimes I’ll do [videos] where I eat a bit of chocolate even though it’s completely unnecessary for the look, and people seem happier.

MC: What’s your mindset when you step in front of the camera?

AH: I put on my outfits and slip into this confident character. I do my little two-step and wink at the end of the videos. I'm moving confidently, even though my ass is hanging out on the back because the front is all I care about recreating.

MC: What are you wearing when you’re not making clothes from scraps and bedsheets?

AH: I think I'm good at putting prints together, and I wear a lot of them.

I also really like Alix of Bohemia’s designs. They have a very limited run of stuff, and the price point reflects that they are not mass-produced. I really like what the founder, Alix Verley-Pietrafesa, is doing; she’s not following trends.

MC: How has your relationship with designer brands and labels evolved?

When I was younger, I was obsessed with designer things. I would go to secondhand shops and buy items based not on whether they were nice but on their labels. I remember a Marc Jacobs dress in particular. It was okay, but I bought it because it was Marc Jacobs. I was so obsessed with these designer brands—or, more importantly, the idea of them.

I wanted to push back against that entire way of thinking because now, a lot of online fashion content is the same idea—promoting a bag with a label without any real personality behind the content. Now I'm like, "That bag is cool! I’ll make it."

MC: What’s the state of your closet?

AH: I appreciate the Marie Kondo way of doing things. I know it’s really helpful for some people, but I'm sort of the opposite of that. I would never be able to do [a Marie Kondo closet clean out] because I sort of hoard things. My closet is filled with clothes I've owned for years. I have some of my mom's and grandma's old clothes. But everything I have I wear. Even if it's been three years, it'll be recycled back into [my rotation], and I'll eventually start wearing it again.

MC: What’s a recent purchase you’re excited to wear?

AH: I recently got a pair of high-waisted black suit pants that are very long—like on-the-floor long. I've been looking for long pants for a while because I'm a bit tall at five 10 and a half, and I’m tired of suit pants that are ankle swingers.

MC: When you’re not DIYing high-fashion looks, how do you fill your time?

AH: I like The Real Real a lot. Recently, I’ve been making RealReal baskets and then emptying them just for fun

I just read Switch Bitch by Road Dahl, which is a big collection of short stories, and I enjoyed that, and I just finished The Great British Bake Off and was actually shocked at the finale. I also loved Wicked. I saw it twice.

Marie Claire's Favorite Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale Deals

Best Sweater Deals

Sweaters may be year-round staples, but now more than ever, you'll want a few more options for your winter outfit rotation. There's every kind of sweater you can imagine on sale, so whether you're in the market for a layering-friendly V-neck or a cashmere knit for cozying up, you'll find a chic, discounted option during Nordstrom's Half Yearly sale.

Best Denim Deals

If you're anything like me, you wear jeans weekly, so stocking up on a fresh pair or two is never a bad idea. Now, while you'll find major discounts, is the best time to try out a winter denim trend. I suggest a pair of Katie Holmes-approved barrel jeans or a number of wide-legged, baggy jeans, slowly earning their staple status among the fashion crowd.

Best Jacket Deals

You won't make it very far this season without a trusted winter coat or jacket. Opt for a thick puffer jacket or classic wool coat to beat the frigid temps in style. Or if you live in a warmer climate, a cool leather jacket will serve you just fine. These options and every other type of coat for that matter are all at a steep discount during Nordstrom's Half Yearly sale.

Best Boot Deals

Boots are the quintessential winter shoe—they keep you warm and secure through slick city streets, and they are some of the trendiest winter shoes. If you have any gaps in your collection, you can find every type of boot at up to 60 percent off. Think: essential knee-high boots, classic ankle styles, and of-the-moment slouchy and moto boots.

Best Sneaker Deals

Cool, trendy sneakers are the one shoe style that will never get old. They're the only shoes you can walk for miles in, and they pair with just about everything in your closet. Refresh your collection with neutral and colorful styles from celebrity-loved sneaker brands like Puma, New Balance, and Tory Burch.

Best Skincare Deals

Nordstrom's Half Yearly sale is the perfect time to restock your skincare go-to's or find a new favorite. There's plenty of cult-favorite brands included from Kiehl's Since 1851 to Clinique and St. Tropez. If you've had your eye on a buzzy skincare device like an LED face mask or a microcurrent facial device, you can score one at a major discount, too.

Best Makeup Deals

With a sale as good as Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale, it doesn't take much convincing for me to try a new makeup product. From our editors' favorite Bobbi Brown products to luxurious Tom Ford finds, this sale is a makeup lover's dream. Even better, there's a ton of beauty gift sets on sale so you can get more bang for your buck.

Best Fragrance Deals

Any perfume lover knows that a new fragrance does not come cheap, which is why I never pass up the opportunity to buy one on sale. Nordstrom's sale includes some of my favorite perfume brands like Ellis Brooklyn and Henry Rose. Tom Ford perfumes are even included at 15 percent off, which doesn't happen too often.

Best Haircare Deals

If your current haircare routine hasn't been doing much for you, now's the time for an upgrade. For starters, the world-class Dyson Nural Hair Dryer is $100 off, and once you try it, you won't want to go back to anything else. Then, my all-time favorite dry shampoo is on sale from Bumble and Bumble, so you can bet it's already in my shopping cart. And if you need new shampoo or conditioner, there are plenty of sale brands to choose from.

<![CDATA[ Taylor Swift's New $3,295 Diamond Ring Is a Romantic Tribute to Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs ]]> Ever since Taylor Swift and boyfriend Travis Kelce started dating in July of 2023, the internet has been on 24/7 diamond ring patrol. (As Swift herself sings in "Lavender Haze": "The only kind of girl they see is a one night or a wife.") Swifties got a glimpse at a new piece paying homage to Kelce this weekend—just not that kind.

On Dec. 21, the pop star was spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs game in their hometown, wearing a cherry red faux fur coat by Charlotte Simone and a diamond, garnet, and citrine ring by Stephanie Gottlieb. The 14K yellow gold sparkler featured a romantic toi et moi setting, which translates to "you and me" in French.

In the last few years, this style has become the favorite ring setting among fashionistas and Hollywood stars alike. Emily Ratajkowski first kicked off the craze in 2018, with her two-stone engagement ring (which she later turned into "divorce rings"), followed by Ariana Grande and Megan Fox a few years later. The style's original supporter, however, was Jackie Kennedy, who received a diamond-and-emerald engagement ring from President John F. Kennedy.

The toi et moi ring style is identified by its two-stone design, with a gem representing each person in the relationship. In Swift's case, that amounted to a pear-shaped garnet and a cushion-cut citrine stone. According to Stephanie Gottlieb's website, it represents "a timeless symbol of connection, commitment, and elegance."

Though Swift's ring is undoubtedly a dedication her boyfriend, it's certainly not a pre-nuptial signifier. The "commitment" being represented is actually that of Travis Kelce to the Kansas City Chiefs—ruby and gold are the football team's signature colors (the diamonds are just for fun).

This isn't the first time Swift has polished up her game-day outfits with thematic jewelry. The "Bejeweled" singer also owns heart-shaped garnet earrings by David Yurman, a Retrouvai ruby and diamond heirloom ring, and Anita Ko ruby drop hoop earrings, among other Chiefs-coded pieces.

Sorry Swifties, she won't be giving "that 1950s sh*t they want from me" just yet.

<![CDATA[ 5 Things I Don’t Regret Buying In 2024 and 4 Wish List Finds for the New Year ]]> Friends! Welcome to the last Self Checkout of the year. It’s going to be a quick one as I wrap things up and head out on PTO. During these last few weeks of 2024, I’m thinking a lot about my list of Ins and Outs from 2023 (I still stand by all of them!), how the discourse around personal style really reached a fever pitch this year, and what that means for the way I’ll approach fashion in 2025. Not much will change, but I hope that by revisiting my key purchases, I’ll have a guide for shopping in the future.

If you feel like you’ll miss me before I’m back in your inboxes in January, be sure to listen to the latest episodes of Nice Talk. This week’s episode with beauty content creator Golloria George felt like chatting with an incredibly influential little sister. She’s wise beyond her years, sharing her thoughts on cancel culture and why she took a social media hiatus after amassing an audience of three million TikTok followers.

J. Crew Cotton Poplin Shirt

This one is interesting because while I don’t regret buying it, I do regret buying so many. I really didn’t need them in every color because I find myself reaching for the solid red and solid blue versions most. Note: If I could do it all over again, I’d go down one size so it wasn’t quite so oversized.

Carhartt Chore Coat

Was there a more popular coat than the chore coat this year? When Miuccia Prada shared her version on the runway, I considered it. Then I saw my boyfriend un-ironically wearing a Carhartt version, and knew I’d be better off saving my money for a classic Prada bag and getting the OG chore coat instead.

Chocolate Brown Suede Boots

I bought these Tabi boots in Paris in March and absolutely adore them. The Tabi shape is not for everyone, but chocolate brown should be. The color, especially in suede, is so supple and rich-looking and works with jeans of pretty much any color. If you haven’t hopped on this trend yet, check out the options below

Black Partlow Cowboy Boots

I’d wanted these for a while and finally took the plunge. They were expensive, no doubt about it, but worth the money to me. A personal classic I’m sure I’ll wear for many seasons to come.

Alex Mill Holiday Things Claes Anorak in Taffeta

Admittedly, I did not buy this. I was gifted it by my friend and unexpected style twin Becky Malinsky. If you aren’t familiar with Becky, she’s a former fashion editor and current stylist (and newsletter writer) with impeccable taste. We were junior editors together back at Glamour in the mid 2000s and always showed up to the office wearing similar pieces, styled in completely different ways. When presented with the opportunity to choose a piece from her collab with Alex Mill, I went with this sporty anorak, imagining the ways I could dress it up and down. 10/10 recommend.

Plus, Four Things on My Wish List

Remember how I mentioned saving for a Prada bag earlier? This roomy shoulder bag is the sort of all-time classic I know I’ll carry constantly.

Buying sunglasses is habitual at this point! I must be stopped—but not before I order this Miu Miu pair.

When I want a handbag that feels a little more special, I’ll reach for this sleek half-moon mini.

Do I need another pair of Sambas? Probably not. But am I going to wear them on repeat next year? Only time will tell!

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Lopez Takes Her Rare Himalayan Birkin Shopping With a Matching Snow White Coat ]]> Today in "Stars Being Just Like Us" moments: Jennifer Lopez was spotted braving holiday season retail crowds this weekend while out shopping with her 16-year-old daughter, Emme.

But, today in "Reminders That Stars Also Really Aren't Just Like Us" moments: Lopez was carrying her ultra-rare $500,000 Himalayan Croc Birkin bag for the outing.

Lopez, her daughter, and the Himalayan Croc Birkin were seen shopping at Ralph Lauren and the Uniquities Consignment House antique store in Beverly Hills on Saturday, Dec. 21, and, for some people, the Birkin sighting might have been the most exciting part of this sentence. That's because the bag, in addition to being ultra-expensive, is also ultra rare—luxury auction house Madison Avenue Couture has called it the "holy grail" of all Birkin styles, and it ranks rarest among Lopez's personal Birkin collection.

The Himalayan Croc Birkin just naturally takes center stage in any outfit. That doesn't mean it isn't also worth taking a moment to appreciate the rest of Lopez's last-minute shopping look, including her ankle-length snow white, oversized coat, and white sunglasses.

Lopez is making "doing last-minute holiday shopping while carrying a rare and expensive bag" her niche lately. On Friday, the Unstoppable actress was spotted shopping at the Brentwood Country Mart carrying what appeared to be the navy crocodile-skin Hermès Kelly bag that she picked up on Black Friday during her Rodeo Drive Hermès shopping spree.

For that outing, Lopez paired the reportedly $80,000 bag with an oversized gray Coach winter coat, baggy jeans, and white sneakers, for a casual Christmas shopping look.

So, yeah, just another reminder that Lopez is both "just like us" (shopping in baggy jeans and white sneakers) and not "just like us" (while carrying bags that cost more than most people's cars...or houses).

<![CDATA[ Taylor Swift Styles an Opulent Crimson Fur Coat Like a Chiefs Game Mini Dress ]]> Here's an oddly specific fashion thought experiment for you: What would it look like if Taylor Swift's Red Era and Midnights Era had a baby and then that baby was raised by Penny Lane from Almost Famous?

Take a moment to picture the outfit that would epitomize that description in your head, and then when you have a lock on the mental image, scroll down to see it come to life, because that's exactly the vibe of the look Swift wore for the Kansas City Chiefs' game against the Houston Texans on Saturday, December 21.

The star of the outfit is a Charlotte Simone Lulu Red Afghan Coat—a stunning, crimson red fur coat with boho energy that Swift essentially wore like a mini dress for the game (which also coordinated well with the fur coat Travis Kelce was seen wearing for his tunnel walk ahead of the game).

FWIW, this isn't the first time Swift has worn a Charlotte Simone coat. The "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" singer wore a black fur coat by the designer to the Poor Things premiere in New York City a little over a year ago, in December 2023 (when she was still firmly in her Midnights Era).

Fans were quick to gush that Swift looks expensive in pics of her arrival at the game, which is fair, considering the $320 coat at the centerpiece of the look was one of the cheapest items in the outfit.

Swift paired the red Charlotte Simone coat with a pair of Sheertex tights (her exact pair—which, according to Taylor Swift Styled, were last seen when the "Fortnight" singer did press to promote her holiday song, "Christmas Tree Farm," in 2021—are sold out, but you can shop a similar pair below), black suede knee-high Manolo Blahnik Lina boots, a black fur hat, and a $2,245 red Tod's T Case Tote messenger bag.

Swift also appeared be wearing her go-to NARS "Morocco" lipstick, a warm cinnamon-colored shade she's been wearing for years.

Prior to her coat-clad Chiefs game appearance, Swift was last seen at her Eras Tour wrap party in Kansas City earlier week, where she wore a $4,290 Balmain mini dress styled by Joseph Cassell Falconer and diamond drop earrings by DeBeers (which were valued at $36,000, according to the jeweler's website).
